**Purpose and Objectives**

**Essential Job Functions**
- Assist the Primary Care Paramedic (PCP) on site when responding to critical incidents, emergencies, or crisis situations. Help with getting medical supplies, bandaging, and any other requests made by the PCP.
- Provide basic life support as required.
- Assist in coordinating emergency medical response including land and air transport.
- Observe PIPEDA principles during and after the response.
- Maintain 100% compliance with federal, provincial or site-specific safety and prehospital care standards.
- Maintain a constant presence by continuously monitoring premises security systems including alarms, surveillance cameras, and access control systems.
- Investigate any suspicious activities, report incidents, and take appropriate action to ensure the safety and security of the premises.
- Accurately document all incidents, emergencies, or unusual occurrences in detailed reports by logging facts, observations, and actions taken for any potential further investigations.
- Control access to restricted areas, verify credentials, and ensure only authorized personnel or visitors gain entry.
- Respond to security breaches, trespassing incidents, or unauthorized activities promptly and appropriately.

**Knowledge, Skills, Abilities Required**

Technical
- Ability to administer provide pre-hospital care as per provincial scope of practice. This care includes but is not limited to scene safety, assessing injuries, providing initial medical assistance, and stabilizing injured individuals.
- Solid understanding of emergency response procedures
- Knowledge of systems, CCTV, and other security equipment.
- Two-way radio and communication systems etiquette.
- Familiar with security, safety, and scope of practice laws, regulations, and industry standards.

Interpersonal (Soft)
- Strong ability to remain calm and composed in high-pressure situations.
- Adaptable to changing circumstances, handle unexpected events, and adapt approach to different situations.
- Solid communication that includes the ability to communicate clearly, listen attentively, and convey information in various intense situations.
- Demonstrate empathy and professionalism to individuals who may be in distress or facing challenging situations.
- Strong observational skills to identify potential security risks, suspicious activity, or hazards within the assigned areas.

**Working Conditions**

Work Environment

Expect a work environment with potential safety risks - an industrial site setting that presents various hazards such as heavy machinery, large vehicles, and potential exposure to toxic substances.

This role may involve physical activities, including walking, running, or climbing stairs, conducting risk assessments or inspections, responding to security or medical incidents, or carrying emergency response equipment.

Work Load

The workload may fluctuate based on factors such as seasons. Seasonal weather conditions or natural events can impact the way of managing safety and security protocols.

Stress Levels

May encounter stressful and challenging situations, including accidents, injuries, emergencies, or confrontations with unauthorized personnel.

Collaboration

Often will work as part of a team that includes other security personnel, mine workers, and the emergency response team.

**Minimum Qualifications**

Education
- Completion of Grade Twelve, secondary school.
- Security Guard License.

Work Experience
- Any experience in emergency response, security, or a related field is preferred.
- Must be able to commute to site.

Other
- General Mine Safety Awareness certification.
- Satisfactory criminal record check.
- Class 5 Driver’s License.
- Pass drug and alcohol test.

Pay: $22.50 per hour
