Position summary

The Structures Supervisor is responsible to the Director of Maintenance (PRM) for the repair and certification of aircraft structures in accordance with the policy and procedures defined in both the HeavyAero Maintenance Policy Manual (MPM), the applicable Structures Manual.

Roles and responsibilities

The Structure Supervisor duties include, but are not limited to:

- Provide leadership, direction, and supervision to the structures maintenance team, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and in compliance with regulatory standards
- Assign work to technicians, monitor progress, and ensure adherence to safety, quality, and operational procedures
- Conduct regular performance assessments, provide feedback, and support the development of non-licensed personnel
- Coordinate with other departments to ensure smooth workflow, proper resource allocation, and timely completion of maintenance tasks
- Ensure compliance with Transport Canada regulations and company policies, addressing any discrepancies or concerns promptly
- Act as the primary point of contact for technical inquiries related to structural maintenance and repairs
- Oversee the proper use and maintenance of tools, equipment, and work areas to uphold safety and operational efficiency
- Maintain accurate documentation and ensure all technical records are completed and reviewed as required
- Restore or repair defects using unique aircraft fastening hardware, ferrous and non-ferrous materials, composite materials, chemicals, adhesives, paints and têxtiles
- Conduct corrosion control inspections of ferrous and non-ferrous materials
- Interpret aircraft drawings
- Conduct assessment of structural damage to determine required repair
- Weld repairs to base metals, alloys and casting materials, using oxyacetylene, electrical arc, inert gas and resistance welding techniques and equipment
- Conduct metallurgy and heat treatment of meta
- Removal, disassembly, reassembly and installation of components and parts to gain access to a sheet metal repair
- Perform sheet metal structures & fabrication tasks
- Manufacture original aircraft equipment, components or replacement items from base metals using special cutting tools, engine lathe and milling machines
- Fabricate and repair aircraft structures using composite, fibreglass, têxtiles, leather, plastic and synthetic components
- Ensure timely and accurate Technical Record entries are completed as required
- Identify defects and ensure Service Difficulty Reports are submitted for structures in accordance with the regulatory requirements
- Ensure all applicable equipment is properly maintained and facilities are clean, safe and appropriately equipped
- Provide mentorship and supervision of non-licensed personnel ensuring that critical knowledge and workmanship is transferred to them
- Lead by example and be a positive role model for others to follow
- Perform other related activities, as necessary or as assigned by management
- Actively participate in the HeavyAero Safety Management System and Quality Assurance programs
- Respect and uphold all the Company policies, procedures & performance expectations

Skills and Qualifications:
Minimum requirements:

- Post-Secondary education in recognised Aircraft Maintenance/Structures Engineer Program
- Valid Transport Canada Aircraft Maintenance Engineer ‘S’ License required
- Two (2) to Four (4) years of experience working as an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer in Structures
- Been in lead role for a year at least

Strong knowledge of:

- All related regulatory requirements
- Safety Management Systems & safe work practices
- Proven success with:

- Working well in high pressure situations
- Ensuring the accuracy and traceability of parts that are removed or installed on the aircraft
- Ability to read and understand various schematic diagrams for maintenance/structure troubleshooting
- Proficiency with computers and diagnostic tools
- Working effectively in unpredictable environments
- Performing under pressure and the ability to multitask while paying close attention to details and the surrounding environment
- Prioritizing work and organizational skills
- Ability to be a team player with a professional attitude
- Mechanical aptitude
- Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written to ensure safe and compliant outcomes
- Understanding the effect of Human Factors in Maintenance operations

Additional requirements:

- Flexibility to work shift work and additional hours including evenings and weekends as required
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
- Must be able to acquire and maintain a Restricted Airside Identification Card (RAIC)
- Must have a clean criminal record
- Must hold and maintain a valid passport and driver’s license
