We are seeking _**Part Time dietary aids to join our family.**_ - **Must be able to work flexible shifts**_ The Dietary aids are responsible for providing dining services to all residents and guests, ensuring the principles of fine dining and service excellence are met. The waitstaff should be very engaging and have the knowledge to make recommendations contributing to the world class culinary experiene. **The responsibilities of the Dietary aid may include but are not limited to the following;** - Assists in maintaining the Food Services department in a safe and sanitary manner. - Provides assistance to the Cook when required. - Responsible for the preparation and service of beverages, meal and dessert items, nourishment items and catering as assigned. - Responsible for serving meals and beverages, following Residents’ diets and food preferences, using proper portion sizes. - Assists in receiving and storing incoming food and supplies. - Assists in monitoring quality of food and supplies received and advises DSC of problems. - Reports food, supply, and equipment needs to DSC. - Follows proper food handling techniques and infection control practices. - Dates, labels, and stores food properly. - Completes pre-start up equipment checks as necessary - Keeps work area clean and uncluttered and completes scheduled cleaning duties. - Maintains cleanliness of floors in the food preparation, dish room, and storage areas. - Meets scheduled meal and nourishment times. - Uses equipment and supplies properly. Understands WHMIS and follows health and safety guidelines. - Sets and cleans dining tables and trays. - Assists in dish and pan washing, storage, and cleaning duties. - Delivers dietary carts to designated areas for functions. - Communicates and co-operates with staff, Residents and their families. - Assists with maintaining the security of the department. - Participates actively in special occasion and theme meal days. - Alerts DSC or designate to problems and makes recommendations about corrective action. **Qualifications** 1. Experience in a dining-room or bar setting serving food and taking orders, preferably in a fine dining restaurant or retirement community setting. 2. Must be knowledgeable of the (Provincial)Ontario Food Premises Regulation and Canada’s Food Guide to Healthy Eating. 3. Ability to work as a team member, understanding the priorities of others. 4. Must be able to read, write and accurately follow written and verbal instructions. 5. Must be able to work accurately, quickly, and safely. 6. Must be able to work and communicate effectively with Seniors. 7. Strong customer orientation to older adults. 8. Ability to communicate clearly with peers and subordinates. 9. Ability to manage their time effectively with little supervision. 10. Up to date police check-vulnerable sector. 11. Smart Serve Certificate. 12. Ability to work flexible hours and weekends. 13.
