**Position Description**:
The Edwin S.H. Leong Centre for Healthy Children at the University of Toronto (UofT) and The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) brings together top researchers to help reduce inequities in child health, including those caused by social and structural determinants of health. Through strategic investments in research, education, training, and infrastructure we are executing our vision of ¿harnessing interdisciplinary research to promote the flourishing of _every_ child and family¿.

As a member of the research and analysis group at ICES, you will also benefit from the mentorship and professional development available through this ICES role and specifically from the lead methodologist at the UofT ICES site and attend regular meetings and interact with the large and vibrant community of research staff at ICES. This role will also provide opportunities for growth within the Leong Centre through professional development and training, and you will be a member of a diverse team of research and administration staff working collaboratively towards the Centre vision.

**Employment Type**: Full-time Temporary Renewable 1 Year Contract, 1.0 FTE

**Responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to**:

- Participate in the development of study design and analytical plans, including preparation of dataset creation plans (DCPs) following a research protocol
- Develop SAS and/or R programs to extract and merge data from health administrative databases according to DCPs to create/derive study cohorts following analytic standards and guidelines
- Carry out statistical analysis on derived study cohorts, according to specifications of project analysis plans
- Prepare and review analytic output _(e.g., tables and reports)_.
- Maintain and advocate for high standards of quality and integrity through code review, documentation, and reproducibility with data analysts at ICES and staff at the RDC.
- Contribute to writing reports, abstracts, poster presentations, peer-reviewed publications, and other relevant deliverables
- Attend relevant meetings, rounds, workshops and conferences to increase knowledge and skills
- Assist in training and orientation of new research staff and trainees, as needed

**Knowledge, skills, and abilities required**:

- ** Essential**:Background** **in epidemiology or biostatistics with a strong understanding of study design and biostatistical analytic techniques used in epidemiology and health and health services research (MSc, MHSc or MPH in Epidemiology or Biostatistics with demonstrated proficiency in programming, quantitative statistical techniques, and data management).
- ** Essential**:At least two years of experience with SAS programming (including SQL, SAS macros), R Software, and other data management tools
- ** Essential**: Knowledge of the principles of research design and analytic methods for large database research, in particular health administrative data such as those housed at ICES, BORN Ontario, Statistics Canada, etc.
- Ability to interpret results and contribute to manuscripts and other deliverables
- Demonstrated attention to detail
- Strong English oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to exercise discretion and good judgement
- Ability to function independently yet collaboratively within a team
- Strong time management skills and proven ability to prioritize timelines and responsibilities, including working accurately and effectively to meet deadlines
- Knowledge of and/or interest in the social and structural determinants of health and health equity is an asset
- A hybrid arrangement is supported, but some in-person work at ICES UofT, the RDC and the Leong Centre at SickKids will be required
