Assistant Manager Custodial Operations

**Purpose**:

With a commitment to sustainability, equity, diversity and inclusion, Ancillary Services works with trusted partners to provide standard effective experiences that enhance the quality of campus life in alignment with the University's core values.Reporting to the Manager, Housing Building Operations, the Assistant Manager, Custodial Operations role is responsible for the day-to-day custodial operations and upkeep for Undergraduate Residences and York Apartments located on the Keele campus which covers 14 buildings and approximately 1.2 million square feet of space. The role is responsible for the custodial operations and plans, allocates and refers the necessary operational resources to ensure the Housing department delivers on its objectives to provide clean, functional, and safe residential facilities that support a positive living environment for students. The role is responsible for meeting the occupancy of year-round turnover demands for student housing as well as the summer hospitality operations The role respects diversity and promotes inclusion in the workplace and contributes to an inclusive and diverse team-based, positive work environment. **Education**:
Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline, such as hospitality, administration, or management.
Valid G' class driver's license in good standing.Please Note: This position requires verification of degree(s)/credentials(s) and proof of a valid Driver's License prior to commencement of employment.

**Experience**:
4 years of related experience.
Experience in housekeeping or custodial services.
2 years of management or supervisory experience.

**Skills**:
Knowledge of hard and soft cleaning systems and quality assurance programs.
Knowledge of washroom and floor care, chemical products, and use of custodial equipment and tools.
Knowledge of interior waste/recycling management.
Knowledge of electronic access controls.
Knowledge of Collective Agreements.
Knowledge of Ontario Health & Safety Act, WHMIS, and Residential Tenancy Act.Skills
Effective leadership and problem-solving skills.
Effective oral and written communication.
Ability to attend to detail and to be clear, concise, and accurate.
Budget and accounting skills.
Effective organizational skill. Able to pay attention to details.
Effective interpersonal and customer relation skills with students.
Proficient in Office 365 Platform, such as Word, Excel, and Outlook.

**Additional Notes**:
Normal office work environment.
Regular work schedule is 40 hours per week.
Travels between and around residence buildings to conduct site inspections and respond to building and staff issues, in person.
Required to respond and coordinate departmental response for after-hours emergency calls.
- **Compensation**:
York's CPM Compensation Framework has a salary grid consisting of 6 or 8 steps (depending on job grade) which is reviewed annually with possible adjustments, and a lump sum Performance Based Recognition Award.
