**Job Summary**
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Physical Therapist Assistant to join our healthcare team. In this role, you will work under the supervision of licensed physical therapists to assist in providing high-quality patient care in a community setting or occasionally in a hospital or acute care setting. Your primary focus will be on helping patients regain mobility, improve their physical function, and enhance their overall quality of life through therapeutic interventions.

**Responsibilities**
- Assist physical therapists in implementing treatment plans for patients recovering from injuries or surgeries.
- Conduct therapeutic exercises and modalities as directed by the supervising therapist.
- Monitor patient progress and communicate any changes or concerns to the supervising therapist.
- Maintain accurate documentation of patient treatments and progress notes.
- Educate patients and their families on exercises, home care techniques, and safety measures.
- Ensure a clean and safe environment for patient care by adhering to infection control protocols.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to the development of patient care strategies.

**Skills and Requirements**
- A degree in a related field (internationally educated PT, Kinesology, Health Science)
- Some experience in a health care setting
- Access to a reliable vehicle and valid driver's license
- Vulnerable Sector Check completed or willing to complete
- Proficiency in medical terminology to effectively communicate with healthcare professionals.
- Knowledge of the roles and responsibilities of a PTA as set out by the CPO
- Strong patient care skills with a focus on empathy and support for individuals undergoing rehabilitation
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, for effective interaction with patients and staff.
- Culturally sensitive communication style

**Preferred skills**
- CPR certification
- Experience with hydrotherapy
- Experience with geriatric rehabilitation
- Proficient in other languages

Pay: $20.30-$30.00 per hour

Expected hours: 2 - 10 per week
