We are seeking a dedicated **Assistant Controller** to join our finance department. Reporting to the Controller, the Assistant Controller is a key member of the finance department, providing support for the daily financial needs of the UVic Properties group of companies.

**Duties and Responsibilities**
- Serve as a key member of our finance team, embodying accuracy and a spirit of cooperation
- Complete month-end processes, including accruals, prepaid entries, and reconciliations
- Review and validate working papers completed by accounting staff
- Ensure timely preparation of daily, weekly, and monthly financial reports
- Administer payroll and benefits
- Complete all government remittances including GST, PST, and industry specific tax filings
- Support audit requirements and ensure all accounting records comply with accepted policies and procedures
- Maintain strong financial controls and processes
- Undertake other responsibilities as required

**Experience and Qualifications**
- Related post-secondary education and in possession or pursuit of an accounting designation
- 3-5 years of progressive experience in a full-cycle accounting environment
- The ability to perform complex account reconciliations
- Superior attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and strong problem-solving abilities
- Strong computer skills, with advanced knowledge of MS Excel
- The ability to work both independently and cohesively with a team
- Experience with QuickBooks and computerized payroll systems is an asset
- Experience in real estate or property management accounting is an asset

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

**Salary**: $70,000.00-$80,000.00 per year
