Job Overview: Union Market is a small cafe in Strathcona that offers baked treats, savory snacks, sourdough pan loaves, focaccia, and sandwiches. We're looking for a head baker to improve our current offerings and/or add to it. Examples for items we'd like to add to the menu include pizzas, scones, more varieties of breads and cookies etc. Lamination is an option as well. Our operation is quite small and relatively new, so this role is ideal for a baker who wants to grow with the business. We have an incredible amount of freezer/cooler space on site, therefore a lot of prep can be done in advance to mitigate the stress of staying on top of daily tasks. Please note: we're a close-knit team and we've worked hard to foster a safe and supportive environment, one that allows our team members to regularly visit the cafe on their off-days without any stress. There's zero tolerance for verbal abuse, yelling, attitude, or arrogance here, it will not be tolerated. There's no "front" vs "back" non-sense here, we believe in the spirit of collaboration and share all tips equally.
