QUALITY RISK MANAGEMENT CO-ORDINATOR

The Quality Risk Management Co-ordinator will be an expert who promotes the philosophy of quality improvement in our 170-bed Home in London, Ontario. The Quality Risk Management Co-ordinator serves as a role model and leads the implementation, coordination, and evaluation of quality improvements to enhance the provision of care and quality of life for our residents. The Quality Risk Management Co-ordinator will be responsible for conducting relevant analyses to identify risk factors, develop interventions using best practice recommendations, and educate staff to improve quality indicators in the Home.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Coordinates the interdisciplinary Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) Program, promoting a philosophy of Quality Improvement (QI) in the Home
- Monitors the status of QI projects by collaborating with assigned Team Leads and assisting as appropriate
- Assists in the collection and analysis of QI data
- Updates and manages information related to QI on the Ministry’s QIP Navigator website
- Ensures the QI Plan is completed, maintained, and reflective of the Home’s quality protocol processes
- Facilitates and/or leads the reporting of QI projects in the Home
- Attends QI project meetings for all departments
- Chairs the QI Committee in collaboration with the Administrator
- Participates in the Home’s CQI teams and assists as needed in the completion of the quality protocols and program evaluations
- Facilitates QI projects through PSDA cycles, fishbone exercises, process mapping, etc.
- Creates action plans and ensures follow-up
- Collaborates with Interdisciplinary Teams (e.g., Falls, Wounds, Palliative Care) on Program Evaluation completion
- Creates, presents, and regularly reviews with the Administrator, comprehensive reports and summaries on the status of QI projects in the Home
- Attends Extendicare training on QI as requested by the Administrator
- Communicates the QI Plan within the Home to other community organizations as appropriate
- Completes QI training with staff who are involved in completing the QI Plan on the correct procedure for completion
- Develops and designs a broad range of training packages, including orientation, handbooks, and procedures for staff education
- Ensures quality resident care through ongoing training and education of all staff to meet all requirements related to the Ministry of Long-Term Care and related bodies
- Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of training materials and processes through direct observation and in collaboration with registered staff and the management team
- Expands staff education beyond the core requirements based on comprehensive yearly learning needs assessments
- Creates and leads a Staff Development Committee
- Develops and administers surveys to assess staff satisfaction with education offerings and uses feedback to guide improvements
- Manages the Home’s written educational material for staff, residents, and families, including, but not limited to, newsletters and informational brochures
- Manages other assigned projects, ensuring effective teamwork and communication, high quality of work, organizational performance, and continuous learning
- Serves as facilitator and advisor to educational and other external agencies, to build strong relationships with universities, colleges, schools, and other key partners to support student placements in the Home
- Participates in Joint Health and Safety Committee meetings, audits, etc.

KEY QUALIFICATIONS
- Registered Practical Nurse or other Regulated Health Professional, with Lean/Quality Improvement training preferred
- Experience in staff education in a healthcare organization
- Experience in QI and risk management methods/protocols
- Leadership style that promotes learning, encourages participation, supports organizational objectives, and values the contributions of staff
- Ability to motivate, lead, train, and educate staff in a fast-paced environment
- Highly developed interpersonal, conflict resolution, project management, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to interact and communicate effectively both orally and in writing at all levels of the organization
- Proven ability to analyze data and implement QI initiatives
- Sound knowledge of government legislation related to long-term care
- Knowledge of public policy, accreditation standards, and processes that affect long-term care
- Proven ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple assignments simultaneously
- Lean/QI training at a minimum of Yellow belt level or equivalent
