**Objective**:To coordinate and provide transitional and housing supports and services for women and families experiencing homelessness. Area of Responsibility: The Housing Support Worker will support individuals facing significant risk of episodic and chronic homelessness by placing them into appropriate housing, based on their needs and affordability. Will assist the development of a transitional support and safety plan that will help them connect with community supports to maintain housing.

**Job Specifications**:
**Coordination and Direct Supports**:

- Conduct initial intake assessments for housing and support needs;
- Utilize SPDAT (Service Prioritization Decision Assistance Tool) assessments to determine housing stability outcomes;
- Develop safety and transition plans and home visits and follow-up supports;
- Assist with housing search and placement;
- Support service users in the development of life skills such as goal setting and budgeting;
- Provide culturally relevant supports to maximize the capacity of women and families to live free of violence;
- Coordinate and strengthen connections to safe and affordable housing supports and additional services, as needed;
- Provide tenant/landlord services such as coordination of signing rental agreements, rental arrears and having first and last paid directly to landlord and assist in building relationships;
- Assist in program budget responsibilities;
**Advocacy and Networking**:

- Advocate for individuals and families with landlords and on issues impacting their ability to secure housing;
- Work with landlords/associations/real estate to identify available housing units;
- Assist and advocate for women and families regarding their health, safety and well-being;
- Provide necessary community supports through direct service or referrals and advocacy;
- Play an active role across relevant community support services to advocate for the delivery of and access to, relevant cultural and trauma-informed supports for service users;
- Participate on external related committees, workshops, and/or conferences as directed and approved by the Executive Director;
**Administration**:

- Provide funder and NASC documents as required (may include quarterly statistic and narrative reporting, annual reports, proposals, workplans, evaluation, etc.);
- Maintain complete, accurate and up-to-date service user case files, program records and statistics ensuring the maintenance of a secure and confidential filing system;
- Attend staff and supervisory meetings, and training and planning sessions as directed;
**Other**:

- Maintain and upgrade professional skills; ensure a safe and healthy work environment; and
- Perform other duties related to the position, as assigned by the Executive Director.

**Competencies**:

- Excellent communication, planning and organizing, critical thinking, decision-making and continuous learning.
- Ability to solve problems quickly, creatively, and ethically. - High proficiency in Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
- Familiarity with a client management software (e.g. OWL Practice).
- Ability to prioritize work and meet tight deadlines.
- Proficiency in case management, program planning and budgeting responsibilities.
- Knowledge of Residential Tenancies Act and the Landlord and Tenant Board.
- Knowledge of subsidized housing programs, networks, and service providers in the NASC catchment area.
- Strong knowledge and awareness of Anishnaabe cultural values or other Indigenous cultural values, history and issues affecting Indigenous women and Indigiqueer peoples.
- Valid G driver’s license and unlimited access to a reliable vehicle.

**Education/Work Experience**:

- Minimum 2-year post-secondary program in social work or other service-related discipline.
- 2 years’ direct working experience in social services specific to housing.
- Other combinations of education and experience may be considered.

Pay: $49,000.00-$52,000.00 per year
