**Position purpose**:
The Chief of Staff provides strategic and operational leadership for the planning, development, and implementation of activities such as budget planning and controls, administrative and financial strategies as well as human, physical, material and IT resources management to ensure efficient and effective operation within the Office of the Vice-President, Advancement.

The Chief of Staff supports the Office and the entire leadership team by ensuring the proper coordination of the efforts of the various services under their responsibility. They also facilitate the development, conception, design and implementation of the various established strategies by obtaining, exchanging and consolidating the information relevant to fulfilling their mandates, or by providing administrative and financial support to the department’s various services.

The Chief of Staff establishes operational strategies for the directorates, managers, administrators and administrative officers of the various services in order to support the users in their understanding of the functioning and the business processes related to the administrative, human, financial and material management operations.

**In this role, your responsibilities will include**:

- Offers sound advice to senior management using detailed analyses for all staff-related matters, to support initiatives of the office and its component units.
- Supervises financial and administrative activities. Determines budgetary priorities, conducts financial analyses, proposes strategies and performs budgetary controls, to ensure administrative and financial accountability for the office and its component units.
- Develops guidelines, processes and procedures to manage procurement and contracts, compliance with standards and laws, maintenance and renewal of computer equipment, and staff management, to ensure a suitable system of governance.

**What you will bring**:

- Theoretical and practical knowledge of administrative, financial and human resources management acquired via a university degree or an acceptable combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in a management position.
- Strong knowledge of granting and contracting practices and of the financial management of trust funds.
- In-depth knowledge and experience in financial management and financial forecasting.
- Knowledge of strategic planning principles, practices and procedures to direct and guide the development of short
- and long-term plans.
- Knowledge and understanding of the mandate, vision and academic culture and vision and goals of the Office of the Vice-President of External Relations.
- In-depth knowledge and experience in developing and implementing policies and strategies across the organization.
- Experience in Human Resources Management, Team Management, Conflict Management, Negotiation and Project Management
- Ability to synthesize, strong analytical skills and the ability to form an overview of the different elements in play.
- Ability to problem-solve, make decisions, ability to work under pressure and manage multiple and sometimes conflicting deadlines.
- Ability to skillfully communicate verbally and in writing in both official languages.
