THOAR Mining provides a wide variety of services in the support and operation of mining, ranging from project management, supervision, underground construction, maintenance, and mining equipment operation.
We are seeking an experienced **Planner (Mechanical & Piping)** to join our client’s construction team for an expansion project underway. The Planner will be responsible for developing, coordinating, and maintaining the project schedule, working closely with the construction management team and contractors to ensure project timelines are met. Our client has flexibility to bring on a part-time resource dedicated solely to this project, or a fulltime resource assigned to multiple projects, depending on the talent availability and preferences.

**Responsibilities**:
- Develop, maintain, and update project schedules in coordination with the construction management team and contractors.
- Monitor project progress and performance, providing regular updates and adjustments to the schedule as needed to accommodate changes in scope, resources, or priorities.
- Work closely with contractors, engineers, and the project and construction team to coordinate planning activities and ensure all teams are aligned with project goals and timelines.
- Assist in the creation and management of work packages, ensuring they are integrated into the overall project schedule and effectively support workface planning.
- Provide input to resolve scheduling conflicts and resource constraints, ensuring that project deliverables are met on time and within budget.
- Participate in project meetings, including scheduling and planning discussions, to provide updates on progress and potential scheduling risks.
- Identify and communicate potential scheduling risks or delays, working proactively with the project team to develop mitigation strategies.
- Use scheduling software and tools to manage and report on project timelines and milestones.
- Adherence to ethical, safety, and quality standards.
**Qualifications**:
- Journeyperson Trades, Engineering Technology Diploma, and/or Engineering Degree, or equivalent will be considered
- 5+ years of experience in mechanical/piping project scheduling and planning, preferably in large-scale industrial and/or heavy industrial projects.
- Proficiency in project management and scheduling software and tools (such as Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, or similar) with the ability to schedule and program projects, create master schedules, reporting, etc.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities within a dynamic work environment.
- Work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with frequent interruptions and tight deadlines
- Positive attitude and flexibility with adapting to changes in project scope and schedules
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with clients, owners, contractors, construction teams, contractors, and engineers.
- Problem-solving mindset, with a proactive approach to identifying and addressing scheduling challenges.
- Experience in the mining, potash, or industrial sectors is considered an asset.
