Job Requirements:
1. Experience and Skill Levels

◦Apprenticeship: Must have completed or be enrolled in a union-approved apprenticeship program.

◦Journeyman Status: For journeymen, completion of the required years of experience (typically 4-5 years) in the carpentry trade is required.

◦Certification: Possess a valid Certificate of Qualification for carpentry in Ontario, including all up-to-date safety and skill certifications.

2. Health and Safety Training

◦Current Working at Heights certification.

◦Familiarity with WHMIS (Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System).

3. Valid Driver’s License

◦A valid driver’s license is often required, especially if a company vehicle is provided for job-related transportation.

4. Physical Fitness

◦Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including heavy lifting, climbing, and working in various environmental conditions.

Abilities and Skill Set:
1. Blueprint and Construction Plan Reading

◦Skilled in reading and interpreting blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine dimensions, materials required, and installation processes.

2.Framing and Drywall Installation

◦Proficient in building and installing steel framing for walls and ceilings.

◦Experienced in drywall installation and interior finishing, including soundproofing and insulating spaces.

3. Acoustical Ceilings and Specialty Installations

◦Experience in installing and finishing acoustical ceilings, ensuring precision and adherence to specifications.

4. Measurement and Layout Skills

◦Ability to take accurate measurements, plan layouts, and calculate material quantities for the job.

5. Problem Solving and Adaptability

◦Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues that arise during construction, such as dealing with unexpected changes or complications on the job site.

6. Communication and Teamwork

◦Strong communication skills to coordinate with project managers, fellow tradespeople, and clients.

◦Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget.

7. Attention to Detail and Quality
- Commitment to high-quality workmanship, ensuring all work meets project specifications and building code requirements.
