Plant Supervisor/superintendent

Since 1975, HJ Machine & Pattern (HJM) has provided jigs, automated inspection and assembly fixtures, CNC and CMM services to automotive, defence, oil & gas, mining, machine manufacturing, foundries, agriculture, and other industries. HJ Waterloo, Ontario location is ISO 9001:2015 registered and has CAD/CAM, CNC, CMM and other machining capabilities. Our gauges and fixtures made with metal, composite, and wood materials are well known to industrial clients in Canada, USA, Mexico, and Europe.

2) Proven record of customer relationship management, including effective communication, problem-solving, design making, business development, etc.

3) A proven change agent, driven to succeed while building a strong team, sharing a trusting relationship with the workgroup and recruiting, managing, and developing plant staff.

4) Manage, monitor and improve financial and key indicator performance, including P&L and production targets, and develop processes to maximize stewardship, safety, quality and productivity.

5) Continuous improvement champion with knowledge of 6 sigma, lean-kaizen tools etc.

7) Quick learner who is adaptable and always strives to achieve excellence.

8) Efficient in operational planning and deployment to produce desired results. Allocate resources effectively and fully utilize assets to produce optimal results

9) Experience with HAAS 3 and 5 Axis milling CNC (VF5, VF4, Mini-mill) and Numerical controlled Lathe, Milling, surface grinder, and other machining processes.

10)Knowledge and experience with quality management systems, i.e. ISO 9000, AS 9100 etc.

11)Manufacturing of checking fixtures for automotive and other industries.

12)Experience in Automation and robotic processes would be an asset.

13)Manufacturing gauges in wood, composite material, metal alloys and cast iron is highly desirable.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Fully responsible for the P&L and growth of the facility.

2. Plan, initiate and allocate work to each department.

3. Forecast future work assignments.

4. Manage the effective implementation of all modules of ERP (E2 Job boss)

5. Effective implementation/ improvement of quality management systems.

6. Regular project management, including maintaining the optimum level of inventory.

7. Coordinate the scheduling of all machines to make efficient use of the complete facility. Establish an effective monitoring mechanism to monitor capacity usage.

8. Supervise maintenance requirements to minimize downtime and maximize productivity.

9. Ensure that all required tooling, material and programming are available as required by production.

10. Review the preparation of all job routing to ensure that correct manufacturing is performed.

11. Ensure proper supervision is maintained in all areas of the plant as required.

12. Ensure that jobs are manufactured in the most efficient manner and to the best quality level.

13. Maintain regular liaison with executive management and workers about production problems and needs to meet company demands.

14. Review delivery requirements and machine production to eliminate missed commitments and improper manufacturing.

15. Provide necessary support to purchasing department on material requisitions.
