**About Western**: Since 1878, Western University has been committed to serving our communities through the pursuit of academic excellence and by providing students, faculty, and community members with life-long opportunities for intellectual, social, and cultural growth. We seek excellent students, faculty, and staff to join us in what has become known as the "Western Experience" - an opportunity to contribute to a better world through the development of new knowledge, new abilities, new connections, and new ways to make a difference. **About Us**: The Faculty of Health Sciences is a large, diverse, and comprehensive unit, comprised of six Schools (Nursing, Kinesiology, Health Studies, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy and Communication Sciences and Disorders), a large Interdisciplinary Graduate Program in Health and Rehabilitation Sciences and four Research Centre’s. The faculty has more than 3,200 undergraduate students and more than 800 graduate students (200 PhD students). The Arthur Labatt Family School of Nursing educates nurses who are reflective practitioners and provides recognized leadership in nursing research, theory, practice, and policy advancements. Our research programs seek to develop knowledge capable of enhancing health equity by transforming practice, services, education and policies that affect health and wellbeing across the lifespan. Research programs reflect 5 overlapping areas of strength: Women’s Health; Violence, Gender and Health; Digital Health; Mental Health; and Global and Indigenous Health. **Course Information**: This interprofessional course offers opportunity for students to critically examine and reflect on Indigenous health and health care practices. Health policy concepts will be embedded within historical, social, cultural and political realities. The health of Indigenous people - individuals, families, groups, and communities is deeply affected by colonization and other distal determinants of health for Indigenous people. This course provides philosophical and theoretical foundations for understanding Indigenous health situations and matters and implementing health and social service interventions guided by critical perspectives to promote health equity. In this course you will have the opportunity to develop a basic understanding of practice and policy through exploring concepts from multiple perspectives on Indigenous health. Focus will be on creating Indigenous health practice and policy grounded in critical race theory. Themes in Indigenous health are critically examined as they relate to creating equitable practice and policy. This course enhances learners’ critical thinking skills through course readings and discussions in various learning activities, as well as through reflection. **Responsibilities**: You will be responsible for all activities associated with the successful delivery of the course, including but not limited to: developing, preparing, and delivering the course; setting and marking examinations, assessing the academic work of students, and reporting grades. **Qualifications**: In accordance with the Faculty Collective Agreement, consideration of applicants will include an assessment of previous performance, experience, and qualifications, including qualifications which go beyond the requirements for the position. Applicants should have fluent written and oral communication skills in English. **Western Values Diversity**: **Please Note**: Effective September 7, 2021, all employees and visitors to campus are required to comply with Western's COVID-19 Vaccination Policy.
