**Impact Assessment Lead**

**The Organization**:
A.E.W. LP was formed in 2017 by Nlaka’pamux Nation Tribal Council member communities to carry out “on the ground” work related to archaeology, the environment and wildlife protection. This work has been made necessary by activities of others within the Nlaka’pamux homeland including transportation, mining, forestry, oil and gas, and utilities projects. The Nlaka’pamux Nation Tribal Council is not opposed to development within our homeland, but developments and activities must be consistent with Nlaka’pamux title and rights.

**The Role**:

- Liaise with NNTC to gather direction on activities, work plans, and priorities needing to be executed.
- Operationalizes workplans within AEW including, but not limited to, working with multidisciplinary project teams with highly skilled specialists and professionals to ensure the technical work is getting done in accordance with Nlaka’pamux laws, policies, plans and standards.
- Supervises Intermediate Impact Assessment Practitioner and supports the creation of a workplan.
- Lead assigned project teams to identify the environmental, socio-economic, health and cultural effects of projects as well as mitigation options.
- Monitor regulatory compliance with approved Projects within the NNTC Homeland
- Implement communication processes with First Nations, communities, project proponents, stakeholder groups and the public to explain policies and procedures, identify and review project issues and concerns, and develop options and solutions to problems.
- Participate in the negotiation, coordination and development of environmental, socio-economic, health and cultural assessment requirements, standards, and agreements with project proponents and, communities.
- Research and participate in the development of new methodologies for conducting environmental, socioeconomic, health and cultural assessments for use by project proponents, and other interested parties.
- Conduct research and maintains current awareness of relevant technical and scientific information related to projects, impact assessment and the environmental sciences.

**Requirements**:

- Degree in Environmental Science or related field
- Possession of or eligibility for a professional designation (e.g., R.P.Bio., P.Eng., P.Geo., P.Ag.).
- 6-10 years of related experience

- Knowledge of land and resource management issues, environmental, health, socio-economic and cultural issues related to major development projects.
- Knowledge of cultures, traditions, and lifestyles of the Nlaka’pamux and how they may be affected by developments.
- Knowledge of environmental science and environmental and socio-economic impact assessment methods, techniques and practices
- Excellent report writing, communication, facilitation, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Good management and leadership skills.
- Demonstrate innovative problem-solving and strong analytical skills that can be applied to resolving complex situations and increase efficiencies.
- Strong ability to prioritize and develop timelines to fit organizational demands
- Strong ability to build relationships, manage stress and work exceptionally well under pressure
- High level of proficiency with computer programs including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook,)
