**Library Settlement Partnership Worker: Intake, Settlement and Outreach - Part Time Position**
District of Parry Sound - Frequent travel required
Start Date: June 10th, 2025
$27.84 per hour plus vacation pay, 14 hours per week
**Responsibilities**
- To provide front-line settlement services including reception, needs assessment, referral to community resources, information and orientation, solution-focussed counselling, job search assistance, service bridging and orientation to library services.
- Facilitate translation and interpretation services.
- To assist and support clients on and off site and facilitate access in matters of education, employment, family, finances, housing, immigration, citizenship, health, human rights, legal matters and community orientation.
- To develop and implement effective outreach strategies that include client service in outlying areas.
- To build, promote and maintain strong community partnerships.
- Work with other staff to develop special events.
- To facilitate information sessions and workshops with other local service providers, stakeholders and/or volunteers.
- To plan and facilitate group activities for clients and volunteers.
- To attend professional development and travel as necessary.
- To maintain up-do-date knowledge on legislation and policies affecting recent immigrants and ensure that immigrants are aware of its availability.
- To ensure the maintenance, accuracy and up-keep of all client and volunteer files and records and maintain a computer database that will record all client and volunteer contacts and activities in a timely manner.
- To recruit, screen, train, support and recognize volunteers.
- To establish and monitor appropriate connections between clients and volunteers, both individual and in a group setting.
- Collect feedback from clients/volunteers and respond as appropriate.
- Develop additional volunteer opportunities and professional development as needs arise.
- Itinerant visits to outlying areas as needed. Ability and willingness to drive throughout our coverage area is essential.
- Undertake other tasks and responsibilities as assigned.
**Qualifications and Experience**:
- Post-secondary education in a social services field, or equivalency in work and experience
- Knowledge of community resources and services
- Knowledge, understanding and sensitivity to issues affecting immigrant communities
- Experience in community outreach, event planning and promotion
- Ability to conduct workshops, presentations, and meetings
- Demonstrated cross-cultural communication skills and ability to effectively work with others from diverse backgrounds
- Strong interpersonal, communication, teamwork, and organizational skills
- Open mindedness, willingness to learn, energetic, creative, and flexible
- Demonstrated commitment to anti-racism and anti-oppression frameworks
- 3 to 5 years lived immigrant experience in the area
- Fluency in English as well as in languages that are relevant to the immigrant population in the area
