- Effective research, communication, facilitation, and technical writing skills are particularly important in this position. The incumbent is a member of the Corporate Services department and reports to the Director, Risk Management.
- Responds to queries from members of the University community with respect to the University’s policy management process and practices.
- Liaises with policy owners and administrators, legal counsel, and others to respond to inquiries or to communicate relevant policy-related information.
- Undertakes research into policies and practices at other post
- secondary institutions.
- Maintains current knowledge of relevant federal and provincial laws.
- Collaborates with policy writers on the development of new or revised policy documents. Writes, edits, or rewrites text to ensure compliance with university policy related standards and to improve texts for clarity and consistency.
- Maintains current knowledge of the University’s policies and procedures, tracking policy status, updating the policy master list and producing associated reports as requested.
- Assists policy proponents, administrators, and officers in gathering, reviewing and taking action on policy feedback, particularly relating to new or revised policy requirements.
- Supports policy-related training, workshops and other activities to raise awareness of the policy development process and encourage the development of consistent policy development and implementation.
- Supports policy working groups and other policy consultation exercises as requested.
- Contributes as an integral member of the University’s policy review teams providing administrative support to chairs as requested and related expertise to review teams.
- Assists with conducting policy related compliance monitoring, tracking policy creation, revision and approval schedules and associated activities.
- Creates guidance, templates and other documents that support the policy process
- Manages the internal facing policy office website and provides regular policy related communication to the university community.
- Manages publication of policy related documents on the university’s external facing website. Maintains the official archive of expired policy documents.
- Manages multiple projects and timelines, works independently on own tasks and encourages others to act as needed to meet deadlines.
- Undertakes special projects as assigned.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

- Solid knowledge of policy development, revision, and management practices within the context of a post-secondary institution.
- Solid project management skills with ability to manage projects across multiple functions and stakeholders.
- Advanced organization skills with ability to establish schedules and meet deadlines.
- Advanced oral and written communication skills with ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees and managers.
- Detail oriented with ability to pay close attention to detail and accurately edit written documentation.
- Solid problem-solving skills with ability to assess complex situations and exercise sound, independent judgement to resolve.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver a customer service focused facilitative approach.
- Demonstrated ability to write a range of documents/content concisely and persuasively.
- Ability to prepare and execute effective presentations and training to individuals and groups.

- Ability to take initiative, while contributing as a team member.
- Ability to establish, foster, and maintain positive and effective working relationships with key stakeholders.
- Thorough knowledge of business English, spelling, and grammar.
**Required Training and Experience**
- Bachelor’s degree in public administration, communications, English, Social Sciences, or a related discipline such as technical writing or editing; A degree in law is an asset.
