Under the direction of the Human Resources Manager, you will primarily be responsible supporting various HR functions within the organization, including recruitment, employee relations, performance management, administration, and compliance. You will serve as a point of contact for employee inquiries while assisting with training and development practices. As a part of our Human Capital team, you will have a strong understanding of HR best practices and be able to effectively communicate and collaborate with employees and management to drive HR initiatives.
Essential
**Responsibilities**:
- Maintain accurate HR records and documentation.
- Coordinate and conduct new employee orientation and onboarding activities.
- Champion time and attendance processes, including various aspects related to employee work hours, attendance tracking, and related policies.
- Administer employee benefit programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, and leave policies.
- Serve as point of contact for employee inquiries, concerns, and support.
- Assist in resolving workplace conflicts and issues in a fair and consistent manner by collaborating with employees and managers/supervisors.
- Promote a positive work environment and lead employee engagement initiatives.
- Assist with the goal and performance management system, including goal setting, performance evaluations, and feedback.
- Work with managers to address performance issues and provide coaching as needed.
- Identify training needs within the organization, assist in organizing training sessions, and support employee development initiatives.
- Assist with the development and implementation of HR policies and procedures.
- Collaborate with supervisors to communicate policy changes and updates to employees.
- Ensure compliance with labour laws and regulations at the federal and provincial levels.
Skills, Education, and/or Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources management, business administration, related field, or equivalent experience.
- Proven experience as an HR Generalist or similar employee facing role.
- Previous experience in a manufacturing environment is an asset.
- Strong knowledge of employment laws and regulations.
- High attention to detail and excellent interpersonal skills.
- Professional level of written and verbal communication required; both official languages a plus.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
- Able to work proficiently in a team-oriented setting, as well as independently.
- Proficiency in HRIS (Human Resources Information System), Ceridian’s Dayforce preferred.
Job Conditions
**Physical Demands**:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and looking at a computer.
- Light physical effort - able to lift up to 20lbs at times.
- Sitting, lifting, squatting, pushing, or reaching for intermittent or extended periods.
- Must be able to travel a minimum or 10% to meet to meet regional needs.
**Work Environment**:
- Factory, Warehouse, Distribution Center, Office
- May be exposed to loud, repetitive sounds from machinery or equipment
- May use chemicals or other in accordance with MSDS
- May operate machinery in close proximity or with objects exposed to eyes or face
