**Job Purpose**:
Reporting to the President, Store Planning supports the floorplan design for millwork and fixtures needs for assigned retail development projects in pharmacies, gas bars and convenience stores. Coordination of external raw materials/components availability from vendors and internal team documents and communication at all stages of projects from approved drawings to final installation. The incumbent will be responsible for the execution of design intent, maintain standards, and provide regular budgeting and scheduling reporting to all stakeholders in a timely fashion.
**Principal Responsibilities**:
- Generate all the project drawing documents to ensure accuracy and reflection of the creative design submitted from clients
- Produce fixture schematics and qualify all fixture order information, partnering with design concepts and production team to ensure all design work, specifications and pricing are complete and accurate
- Understanding of customers’ perception of floorplan and mill shop designs
- Attend site views as required to provide design guidance and conduct deficiency walks
- When required research and provide feedback on site specific conditions that will impact design and cost
- Communicate and partners with all internal and external stakeholders to ensure project adherence to established schedules, budgets, procedures and processes
- Create proper drawing blocks in the system for fixtures and help in generating order lists
- Ensure details are thought through to avoid unnecessary expenditure (both build and maintenance)
- Ensure current drawing standards are met (floor plans, interior elevations)
- Obtain appropriate signatures for any amendments
- Manages time and productivity by challenging current processes and proposing better methods in communication and collaboration
- Maintain design library (resource room)
- Actively participate in project status meetings to ensure quality and timeliness of project delivery
- Prepare and issue any Addendum change notifications to all parties
- Resources new vendors, materials, products; contacts vendors coordinating meetings to present new products when required
- Post-mortem on projects for closure and learnings to implement best practices
- Regular review of design industry trends/new concepts/materials/innovations and aptitude to translate to applicable design concepts as relates to customer base
**Qualifications / Required Skills**
- Minimum 5 years experience in store planning design and/or construction project management, 3 years of which should have been within a retail environment involving fixtures and millwork construction
- Interior design diploma or Bachelor of Interior Design preferred
- Comprehensive knowledge of AutoCad and 3D rendering software equivalents such as Sketchup
- Strong knowledge of budgeting, cost estimating, fiscal management, building and design planning principles and procedures.
- Strong working knowledge of basic fixture and cabinet construction detailing and methods
- Solid Proficency: Word, Excel, PowerPoint
- Detail oriented and accurate particularly as it relates to dimensions and measurements
- Experience with design and planning principles and procedures as it relates to our client base for pharmacy, gas stations or convenience stores
- Has experience in designing floorplan layouts with an understanding of traffic flow and human scale
- Demonstrated creative abilities in sketching, conceptual rendering, and space-planning
- Multi-tasking to quickly shift from design creativity tasks to administration/communication
- Confident in communicating and conveying technical and design issues to mill shop and customers
- Proven ability work cross-functionally with different departmental teams
- Hand drafting experience
- Familiar understanding of Ontario building codes as relates to our client base
- Ability to read, write and speak English fluently to convey and receive information
- Keen sense of urgency
- Excellent time management, organizational and prioritization skills
- Strong business acumen with high comfort level interpreting and discussing measurements and costs inter-changeably
**Physical Requirements**
- Occasionally walk and stand; frequently sit
**Work Environment**
- Predominately office of mínimal noise level
- Occasional interaction with customers on-site
- High noise levels and moving machinery when consulting with mill shop department
**Job Type**: Full-time, Permanent, In-person
**Work Expectations**: 40 hours per week Monday to Friday 8:30am to 5pm
