Merchandise planners are responsible for pre-season and in-season planning. Merchandise Planners review historical sales trends, forecasts and uses analytics to establish the best product mix, price and project the gross margin required to achieve their departmental strategy and meet the financial goals set for the department. This position works in close partnership with the buyers and allocators.

More specifically, our Planner is responsible for
- Pre-season and In-season planning for both Bricks and Mortar and E-com channels for assigned departments
- Generating various reports and analysis in support of pre-season and in-season planning. Transforms analysis of results into executable strategies and makes recommendations that influence investment and receipt flow strategies. - Analyzing historical information, system reports, post mortem analysis to develop departmental and assortment plans; you will be accountable for achieving or exceeding budgeted sales and gross profit. Partnering with the buyer to align assortment strategies (assortment, pricing, quantification) to achieve financial plans. Analyzing product performance through full cycle of an item and respond with recommendations for necessary markdown strategies to maximize product sales. Creating product assortments by product classification, volume groups, to meet the seasonal financial goals; developing bottom up financial plans that provide a product centric view of the revenue opportunity for each season, incorporating consideration to our Regular and Petite complexion. Creating twelve month bottom-up Channel plans (E-com & Bricks and Mortar) by product classification aligned to top down financial targets to establish annual budgets and open to Buy. Provides pertinent feedback to the Allocation team and makes recommendations to support inventory distribution decisions
- Has at least 1-2 years of experience in a planner, associate planner, or senior allocation role; ideally has fashion retail merchandise experience
- Must be strong in retail math and be able to quickly review and evaluate financial and business indicators and draw out observations and insights. Anticipates business opportunities and risks and recommends alternative and contingency plans to address.
- Excellent communication skills. Ability to present ideas clearly and effective in a variety of presentation settings. Takes a position, supported with facts, and lobby for its acceptance. Must be able to support/align with company decisions made that are contrary to personal recommendations.
- Displays effective organization, time management and reporting skills.
- Able to build constructive and effective relationships with a diverse group of stakeholders.
