**Position Title**: Apprentice

**Department**: Operations

**Reports to**: Journeyperson and/or Field Mangers

Purpose: This Position Description is designed to highlight the main activities, responsibilities and performance expectations for this role and describe the typical scope of control and influence associated with this position. The Apprentice position coordinates with other Apprentices and Journeyperson. This position is considered a training position on the path of becoming a licensed Tradesperson.

**Main Functional Activities Include**: - An Apprentice’s primary function is to support the needs of the Journeyperson they report to in a safe and conscientious manner. Duties will include, but not limited to plumbing, pipe fitting, cutting, coring, digging, and trenching, measuring, layout, paperwork, and other similar tasks. An Apprentice will also be responsible for other field duties as requested by their superior and can include items such as housekeeping, caulking, filing, organizing, receiving, moving material to the work areas, driving to obtain materials, etc.

**Performance Expectations General Expectations**: - In addition to the Safety Training provided by the company, will proactively continue to learn and understand the requirements of Health and Safety legislation and safety policies through recommended reading provided by HR. Will act to warn or rectify any unsafe conditions. -Is Punctual and Flexible with respect to the project requirements and schedules. - Will understand and follow all policies -Will work with and maintain positive working relationships with fellow employees, management, the Client, and any other trades and authorities they meet.

**Position Specific Expectations**: - Receive and carry out work based on detailed instructions from their Superior. Note that a level 5 Apprentice will receive more general instructions than an Apprentice 1. - Will ask questions to ensure they fully understand the scope prior to starting the work. - Provide quality work within the allotted time frame defined by their supervisor. - Manage their obligations with respect to the apprenticeship program including schooling, trade hours, and will proactively upgrade their skills with the support of their supervisor in areas with limited personal experience.

**Skill Qualifications** -Graduate of a pre-apprenticeship program or similar experience - Driver’s License in good standing -General in house training as specified for Apprentices and Journeyperson. (Note that these must be completed within 2 years of hiring unless otherwise directed by management)

**Salary**: $23.00-$30.00 per hour
