**Yard Driver - Job Description**

**Summary**

The Yard Driver will be responsible for completing assigned deliveries in entirety, which includes working with the yard crew to load equipment, ensuring that loaded equipment is properly secured for delivery, offloading equipment at delivery sites, communicating with customers, communicating with other staff members, and any other tasks related to equipment delivery. This role will be required to drive various class 5 trucks, including trucks with trailers, cube vans, flatbed trucks, and other vehicles as assigned. This role will be required to conduct basic troubleshooting of equipment at jobsites as necessary, potentially under the direction of a mechanic or service manager over the phone. The position will be required to complete basic truck maintenance, including cleaning trucks and other such duties. The yard driver will also be required to complete yard work, including loading and unloading customer pickups and drop-offs, logging information of equipment being picked up and dropped off, coordinating pickups and drop-offs with the front counter staff, ensuring that equipment being sent matches paperwork information, and other work as assigned. The yard driver will be responsible for fencing and trench shoring assignments, which include deliveries and pickups, alongside customer pickups and customer returns. This role will be required to prepare office trailers for delivery or check in office trailers upon return. This role will be responsible for keeping the fence yard organized and for ensuring the fence yard’s inventory is accurate. This role may be assigned other duties as business needs dictate. The Yard Driver will be required to log information in Texada and Fleetlogic in order to document necessary information. Finally, this position may be required to assist the Party Store in their orders and deliveries as necessary.

**Job Duties**
- Complete deliveries of equipment, trench shoring, and fencing using various sizes of trucks and trailers.
- Operate equipment to facilitate delivery, pickup, or movement and storage of equipment and material. This includes operating scissor lifts, boom lifts, forklifts, skid-steer loaders, and other pieces of rental equipment.
- Complete customer pickups and customer returns in full, including loading and unloading equipment and inventory, logging necessary information, coordinating with the front counter staff, and all other associated tasks.
- Ensure that all assigned trench shoring and fence orders are completed in full, including picking orders, loading orders, ensuring that loads are properly secured, delivering and picking up material, and fielding customer pickups and returns.
- Perform pre-trip inspections of vehicles.
- Ensure correct loading of vehicles and ensure that all loads are properly secured.
- Operate vehicles in a safe manner, obeying all rules of the road.
- Comply with all company policies and procedures.
- Record information on pick-ups and deliveries, including vehicle mileage, fuel costs and any problems encountered. Log information into Fleetlogic and Texada as required.
- Communicate with central dispatch, supervisors, and customers as necessary.
- Load and unload products in a safe manner, using provided tools as appropriate (e.g. dollies, lifts, etc.)
- Conduct basic troubleshooting of equipment on jobsites as necessary, potentially under the direction of a mechanic or service manager over the phone.
- Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage to vehicles.
- Check all load-related documentation to ensure that it is complete and accurate.
- Maintain logs of working hours and of vehicle service and repair status, following applicable provincial and federal regulations.
- Communicate effectively with the customers and co-workers both verbally and in written form.
- Assist in loading and unloading of equipment.
- Perform periodic inspections before, during, and after delivery to ensure that loads are properly fastened down and secure.
- Provide feedback to supervisor regarding issues or concerns.
- Complete all necessary paperwork at the end of the shift. May include, but not limited to, daily logs, inspection logs, delivery receipts, vehicle inspections, hours of service, etc.
- Process office trailers for delivery or return, including cleaning trailers, unloading and loading trailers, evaluating for damage or necessary repairs, and other tasks as assigned.
- Ensure that fence and trench shoring inventory stays properly organized, maintain fence yard organization system.
- Complete deliveries for other divisions as assigned.

**Requirements**:

- High School Diploma, G.E.D., or equivalent.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Basic mechanical knowledge of trucks and equipment to allow for basic troubleshooting and maintenance.
