**ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY**
We are seeking a highly motivated, team-orientated individual to join our People and Culture team as the Payroll Manager.

**KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Manage all aspects of payroll including but not limited to day-to-day operations, process and workflow standardization and management, project management, payroll tax & accounting, and internal/external audits.
- Supervises the Payroll and Benefits Specialist, including delegating and reviewing work, as well as training and coaching.
- Maintain confidential information by legal or ethical standards and a high level of professionalism to ensure the privacy of employee records.
- Manages the preparation and processing of all payroll related activities for staff on a bi-weekly basis using Rise People and is responsible for the transition to UKG.
- Ensures all legislative requirements regarding tax withholding, remitting tax payments, fulfilling wage garnishments, preparing T4’s, and income reporting have been met both on-going and at year
- end.
- Prepares monthly reconciliations, annual returns of remittance and filing of all Government agencies including CRA, Health & Levy Taxes and all provincial WCB source deductions.
- Compiles year-end processing and reporting for T4, T4A, T2200s, taxable benefits, garnishee, Municipal Pension Plan, and other earnings.
- Prepares and submits all annual returns in a timely manner (T4, T4A’s, pension, and other earnings).
- Performs audits on data and system maintenance for the payroll systems including, but not limited to, new hire, direct deposit, benefits, garnishments processing, tax forms and terminations setups.
- Provides support for all payroll related questions, inquiries, and provincial/federal payroll legislation.
- Ensures all provincial and federal legislative updates are reflected in the payroll systems.
- Acts as a liaison will all levels of government and assists with internal and external audits.

**THE IDEAL CANDIDATE**
- At least five (5) years of Canadian payroll experience, including in-depth knowledge of payroll legislation as it relates to federal and provincial tax regulation.
- Minimum of two (2) years of management and supervisory experience.
- Experience with Rise People, UKG, or Sage Accounting considered an asset.
- Subject matter expert on all things payroll and ability to communicate effectively to share this knowledge.
- Knowledge and/or awareness of the historical and contemporary contributions made by Métis people in BC.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to meet deadlines while maintaining compliance and regulatory standards.
- Proven interpersonal, organizational, mathematical, and analytical skills, with a strong attention to detail
- Detail-oriented, analytical, flexible, and able to adjust to changing work demands and deadlines.

**OTHER COMMENTS**
- Other duties may be assigned as needed to help ensure the efficient operation of MNBC.
- There will be a need to attend meetings and events which may require work and travel outside of the normal business hours.
- Ability to provide a satisfactory Criminal Record Check.
- Valid BC Class 5 Driver’s license and access to reliable personal vehicle for work purposes.
