**POSITION TITLE: Overnight Support Worker - Permanent, Part-time (Weekends)**

**REPORTS TO: PTH Program Manager**

**ABOUT MADISON**:
Madison Community Services is a non-profit agency, which promotes the independence, health, recovery and community integration of persons with mental health challenges through the provision of mental health case management, supportive housing and a broad range of other programs and services.

One of Madison’s supportive housing programs is the Pathways to Home (PTH) Program. PTH is a 24/7 intensive on-site high support housing program for long-term users of the shelter system with complex mental health and addictions (MH&A) and/or developmental disabilities (DD) -who require high levels of support to address their mental, cognitive, physical health and other significant challenges.

Reporting to the PTH Program Manager, the Overnight Support Worker provides residential support to clients on-site Saturday and Sunday from 12 am - 8 am. The Worker is responsible for providing a safe and secure setting and recovery-oriented support for clients. The role of Overnight Support Worker also includes ensuring that the cleanliness of the program space is maintained.

**DUTIES, RESPOSIBILITIES AND RELATED TASKS**
- Comply with Madison’s policies, standards, guidelines and procedures.
- Report health and safety concerns to management to ensure all staff work in a safe and supportive environment.
- Work from a recovery framework to support the organization in achieving the organization’s mission, through advocacy, education and the provision of a broad range of community based and housing support services.
- Provide individual support such as crisis intervention, dispute resolution and other supportive intervention. This may include mental health support, calling for medical assistance / calling 911 if needed.
- De-escalate and manages conflict with or among clients in accordance with established policies and practices.
- Work collaboratively with partner agency staff to conduct overnight safety checks for clients as required.
- Work collaboratively with partner agency staff to ensure meal prep is completed as required.
- Document maintenance related deficiencies and report them to management.
- Complete documentation as per PTH and Madison Community Services policies.
- Support the development and implementation of client safety plans as needed.

**PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT**
- Set annual performance and professional development goals.
- Participate in regular supervision with PTH Manager.
- Attend and actively participate in monthly staff meetings.

**QUALIFICATIONS**
- Developmental Service Worker/Social Service Worker or equivalent, with one-year relevant experience.
- Experience working with individuals with mental health and developmental disabilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and organizational skills.
- Current CPR and First-Aid certificate or willing to obtain.
- Required to provide a satisfactory vulnerable sector background check.
- Demonstrated understanding of workplace Health and Safety practices.
- Ability to work effectively with all levels of staff.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

**_WORKPLACE ENVIRONMENT _**

Madison’s Pathways to Home Program is located in a high-rise apartment building in Toronto, Ontario with 352 units. Many mental health agencies lease units in this building. Due to the location, there may be exposure to harsh conditions, including second-hand smoke, cannabis and/or substance use, and pest infestations. Interactions with clients who have mental health and/or substance use issues, and/or developmental disabilities, that may from time to time act erratically, are also to be expected.

**Salary**: $23.31 per hour
