Job Description

AltaGas - Trading & Risk Specialist

As a Trading and Risk Specialist, you will use your strong analytical acumen and attention to detail to play a critical role in monitoring, analyzing, and mitigating trading and financial risks.

You Will:
- Monitor and analyze trading positions, exposures, and market conditions to identify potential risks- Assess credit, market, liquidity, operational, and other financial risks- Conduct stress tests and scenario analysis to assess the impact of adverse market conditions- Balance daily and monthly positions through active trading and position monitoring- Monitor the Mark-to-Market of various physical and financial positions- Develop an expert understanding of global propane market fundaments- Maintain high communication levels across internal departments- Develop and maintain business processes and systems to ensure proper administration of executed contracts- Sensitivity analysis and assist in budgeting and planning process- Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies and policies- Collaborate with trading teams to ensure adherence to risk limits and guidelines- Manage risk controls, including stop-loss orders and position limits- Stay current with relevant regulations and industry best practices- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and reporting obligations.- Assist in regulatory filings and examinations- Utilize financial and trading data to create reports and dashboards for risk analysis- Evaluate historical trading performance and identify patterns and trends- Utilize quantitative models for risk assessment and forecasting- Provide regular risk reports to senior management and stakeholders- Communicate effectively with trading teams to convey risk-related information- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on risk-related initiatives

You Have:
- 2-5 years of experience in trading and risk management, related trading, marketing, or logistics- Understanding of financial markets, instruments, and trading strategies- Proficiency in risk management tools and software an asset- Knowledge of regulatory requirements and compliance an asset- Strong analytical and quantitative skills- Experience researching and problem-solving- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment- Stong MS Excel capabilities- Professional certifications (e.g., FRM, CFA) an asset- Proficiency in risk management tools and software an asset- Knowledge of regulatory requirements and compliance an asset- Experience with ETRM an asset
