**JOB TITLE**:Partner Contact Worker (Full-time contract)
**PROGRAM**:Partner Assault Response (PAR) Program
**REPORTS TO**:Program Coordinator - PAR Program
**ANNUAL SALARY**:$46,686.00
**LOCATION**:All JHSYR offices (virtually and in-person)
John Howard Society of York Region (JHSYR) is a non-profit, charitable organization serving residents of York Region. The organization works with individuals involved in any stage of criminal justice involvement and their families.
PAR Program is delivered through a psycho-educational model to individuals charged with a criminal offence against a current or former partner, while also providing information and support to the survivor and current partner of the PAR participant. The program has two primary goals: to enhance safety and to increase accountability.
The function of this position is to work with the partners of individuals participating in the PAR Program. The Partner Contact Worker will contribute to enhancing partner safety and providing the partner with information about the PAR Program and community resources that might be of assistance. This position is in a part-time capacity.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
- Conduct intake assessments and needs/risk assessments with
- Contact partners and provide information about the PAR Program and maintain follow-up
- Ensure partners have a safety plan in place and offer to support the development of one
- Refer clients to relevant community supports that meet the needs of a unique and diverse client demographic
- Complete required administrative tasks
- Conduct outreach to other community agencies to enhance service delivery and establish partnerships in areas specific to client needs
- Assist agency in program enhancement through identification of service gaps
- Available to learn and assist with other team tasks as directed by the program coordinator
- Ensure that services delivered are efficient and effective through evaluation techniques
- Adhere to directives and program standards of the Ministry of the Attorney General
- Engage in continuous learning as directed by the Program Coordinator
- Maintain and respect professional boundaries with clients and colleagues
- maintaining the highest level of confidentiality
- Attend staff and team meetings
- Available to work daytime, evening, and weekends
- Participate in internal and external committees and roundtables as directed by the program coordinator
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Post-Secondary education in a related field (i.e. Social Work, Criminology, Psychology, Social Services etc.), or an equivalent combination of education and practical experience
- Knowledge regarding intimate partner violence, child abuse, and the dynamics of violence and abuse
- Experience working with criminal justice-involved individuals and families, with an understanding of the barriers and precipitating factors leading to justice involvement.
- Able to articulate an analysis of domestic violence as it relates to gender roles, effects on children, socialization, and the dynamics of power and control
- Approach work through a trauma-informed and client-centred lens
- Strong time management skills with an ability to multi-task
- Experience in providing wrap-around service for clients is considered a strong asset
- Knowledge of local York Region community partners, with an ability to source out resources beyond York Region for specific client needs
- Knowledge of crisis intervention techniques
- Ability to liaise successfully with multiple stakeholders
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs and online meeting platforms
- Ability to work with diverse populations and communities with an awareness of socioeconomic and language barriers
- Lived experience of involvement with intimate partner violence, child welfare, and/ or the criminal justice system is an asset.
- Oral and written proficiency in English
- The ability to speak a second language is an asset
