**Activity Leader - Seasonal Contract**

**About KidSafe**

Founded in 1993, the KidSafe Project Society is a local non-profit organization that proudly serves Vancouver's at-risk children and youth. With 1 in 5 Vancouver children living in poverty, the unjust and common reality for tens of thousands of local kids is that school breaks are times of uncertainty, hunger and loneliness. At KidSafe, we work on the ground to help the children and families who need us most. When schools close for winter, spring and summer breaks, KidSafe opens. We support children in Vancouver schools between 5-12 years old and serve up to 450 children and youth annually. The kids we work with are incredibly resilient, full of life and inspire KidSafe staff who are lucky to work with them day after day.

**POSITION DETAILS**

The Activity Leader supports their assigned sites’ Program Leader by assisting with leading trauma-informed and culturally appropriate activities on-site. This position is immersed in all aspects of the program, and reports directly to their Program Leader and Program Administrator on site.

Key responsibilities include:
**Program Delivery**
- Alongside the Program Leader, help deliver developmentally appropriate programming in accordance with KidSafe standards.
- Creates and maintains a positive atmosphere to build self-esteem and confidence in children.
- Ability to adapt to quickly changing priorities and needs while on-site.
- Helps maintain a neat, orderly, and clean environment, including daily clean up from activities and mealtimes.
- Attends staff meetings, planning sessions, and training events as required.
- Helps in any additional tasks that arise, as directed by the Program Leader and Program Administrator.

**Participant Engagement**
- Supports KidSafe participants in their engagement with activities.
- Ensures the safety of all participants, staff, and property by following KidSafe standards, policies, and procedures.
- Actively interacts and builds meaningful relationships through positive daily interaction with staff and youth.

**Job-Specific Competencies & Skills**
- Current Standard First Aid and CPR, FoodSafe, High-Five, Responsible Adult, Babysitting Training or any other relevant certifications are considered an asset.
- Motivated, enthusiastic, flexible attitude and an ability to work as a team player.
- Must have a recent, or be willing to obtain a Vulnerable Sector Check, prior to the start of the program.
