The Manager is responsible for supporting the development, implementation and evaluation of projects and activities related to the Indigenous Cancer Strategy. The Manager develops and implements individual project work plans, supports the hiring, training and reporting of Indigenous program staff and supports and nurtures BC Cancer’s relationship with its Indigenous partners. The Manager is responsible for the identification, planning, development, implementation, coordination and evaluation of key programs and related projects. The Manager works collaboratively with a variety of internal and external partners and stakeholders in support of the development, implementation, and evaluation of policy, transformation, and knowledge exchange programs and related projects. The Manager supports the establishment of key relationships with external health system partners including regional health authorities and existing cancer organizations.

**What you’ll do**
- Develop and manage various project work plans for Indigenous Cancer Control to ensure attainment of project goals, budget and timelines, and maintaining documentation for project reporting and evaluation processes.
- Complete activities in support of the development and sustainability of the Strategy including participating in strategic planning, reporting on projects and initiatives, identifying and evaluating the applicability of alternate sources of funds and supporting communication efforts
- Provide supervision, leadership and guidance to team members by establishing priorities, supervising and directing work, assessing performance, handling disciplinary issues, motivating and coaching staff.
- Manage the recruitment, hiring and orientation processes of new staff hired as part of the Indigenous Cancer Control team
- Manage budget(s) associated with the Indigenous Cancer Control department and ensure funds are appropriately reported on and accounted for.

**What you bring**
- A Bachelor’s Degree in a health related discipline or health care administration, or level of education, training, and experience equivalent to.
- A minimum of five (5) years recent related experience working in Indigenous healthcare, either in a clinical or business environment.

You have:

- Demonstrated knowledge and experience working with Indigenous (First Nations, Metis and Inuit) communities and organizations.
- Extensive demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the impacts of the social and economic determinants of health of Indigenous Peoples.
- Demonstrated understanding of Indigenous perspectives on health care.
- Ability to manage and provide support to Indigenous program staff working in cancer centres across BC.
- Ability to travel to Indigenous communities across BC to support education and awareness related to cancer care.
- Demonstrated competence in Microsoft Office and applicable software programs.
- Strong oral and written communication skills with a broad range of stakeholders, coupled with an ability to function at a high level in a complex and changing interdisciplinary healthcare environment.
- Ability to work under time pressures to meet deadlines and handle interruptions and changing priorities.
- Demonstrated ability to plan, analyze, implement and problem solve independently as well as the ability to work in a collaborative team environment.
- Awareness of and commitment to learning and understanding the Truth & Reconciliation Commission’s 94 Calls to Action (2015), In Plain Sight Report (2020), BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (2019), and Reclaiming Power and Place Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women & Girls calls for justice, and how they intersect across the health care system.
- Support team members on their learning journey, ensuring education strategy for team/department to implement Indigenous Cultural Safety at a practical level.
- Work collaboratively with appropriate Indigenous teams/departments to ensure ICS lens applied holistically.
- Have commitment to upholding the shared responsibility of creating lasting and meaningful reconciliation in Canada as per TRC (2015) and BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (2019).
- Knowledge of social, economic, political and historical realities impacting indigenous communities and familiarity with Indigenous Cultural Safety and anti-racism and accompanying reports (BC DRIPA, TRC, etc.).
