**About the work environment**:
Peoples Group offers a flexible and hybrid work environment. In this role you will work a combination of in-office and remotely from home. Typically, you'll be working regular business hours, Monday to Friday between 8:00am and 4:30pm with flexibility around start/end times.

**About the qualifications**:
- 5+ years of experience in financial analysis or accounting.
- CPA, CFA, and/or CBV or equivalent designation preferred.
- The ability to think strategically, leveraging a combination of critical thinking, intellectual curiosity, and business judgment.
- Proficiency with Excel and building business presentations through PowerPoint.
- Financial modeling and valuation skills (including DCF, comps analysis, forecasting, etc.), an asset.
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills, with ability to create structured quantitative and qualitative analyses.
- High EQ and interpersonal skills to cultivate relationships internally and externally.
- The ability to balance multiple high-priority projects/tasks and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Strong communication skills (verbal + written) and can deliver insights around business problems in a thoughtful and persuasive manner.
**About the day-to-day**:
- Management of the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring timeliness of the close process and production of accurate financial reports within scheduled time frames.
- Management of tax compliance, including income and indirect taxes.
- Day to day management and supervision of the accounting staff to ensure the department functions effectively on a daily basis.
- Monitoring of income and expenses to ensure that items are appropriately classified and recorded within the financial reports.
- Review and approval of all general ledger reconciliation/analysis including significant accounts as scheduled or on a regular basis in addition to ensuring that all reconciling items are appropriately resolved.
- Review of journal entries and supporting documentation and/or working papers to ensure they are appropriately supported and accurately recorded.
- Signing authority on company documentation and bank accounts as required.
- Responsible for maintaining the accounting department procedures manual (including managing any refinements or updates as required) and ensuring that all accounting staff are familiar with its contents.
- Analysis of operations and financial records for key trends illustrating opportunities and challenges.
- Assist in the identification of opportunities and develop recommendations to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the department through the use of conventional, digital, and automation tools.
- Oversee the implementation and integration of procedural or other departmental changes as required.
- Assist with internal and external audits by providing required documentation and addressing audit findings.
- Monitor and manage cash flow to ensure appropriate cash levels are maintained and investing any excess in accordance with company’s policy.
- Completion and management of ad hoc projects as assigned.
- Proficient in accounting software (NetSuite experience is preferred but not required).
- Sense of urgency and excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
