Do you have lived or professional experience working in harm reduction, community wellness, or Indigenous health? Are you passionate about making a difference at the community level by meeting people where they’re at and offering connection and support on their healing journey?. The Squamish Nation’s Yúustway Health & Wellness Department is hiring a Peer Worker who brings lived experience, cultural awareness, and a strong commitment to community-based wellness. In this trusted and visible role, you will engage with Nation Members, provide harm reduction education and supplies, and help build pathways to culturally appropriate mental health and addictions support.

**What You’ll Do**:

- Provide harm reduction education, support, and training to Squamish Nation Members and staff.
- Attend community events and outreach days to distribute supplies and resources (e.g., Naloxone kits).
- Facilitate and connect Members to harm reduction workshops and other cultural or wellness supports.
- Engage peers in conversations about what services, education, and supports they need.
- Collaborate with Members, families (when appropriate), Elder Advisors, interdisciplinary team members, and partners to support wellness goals.
- Practice from a culturally safe, trauma-informed, and low-barrier approach to service.
- Maintain confidentiality, complete outreach documentation, and contribute to program development.
- Provide weekly outreach in both Squamish Valley and North/West Vancouver, connecting with harder-to-reach community Members.
- Build and maintain strong partnerships with agencies like FNHA, CMHA, Tsleil-Waututh Nation, and VCH.
- Support health and wellness events and attend regular team meetings.

**What We’re Looking For**:

- A combination of education in the related field.
- Experience working within First Nations communities and an understanding of Indigenous Cultural Safety.
- Lived and/or professional experience related to substance use, recovery, or harm reduction.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team and in community.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills; relatable, flexible, reliable, and compassionate.
- Basic to intermediate comfort with using Microsoft Office (e.g., Word, Outlook) and the Internet.
- Familiarity with wellness programming and support services is an asset.
- Cultural awareness and deep respect for Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw values, language, and traditions

**Salary**: $47,000 - $66,000 hour
