**THE OPPORTUNITY**:
The Lab Chemist analyzes raw materials and finished products using various instrumental and analytical techniques. The Lab Chemist handles all responsibilities while taking into consideration the company’s commitment to quality management, safety, sustainability, customer service and superior analytical testing competence as demonstrated by ISURA’s ISO 17025 methods accreditation.
**In this role you will**:
Work Monday to Friday (8:00 am - 4:30 pm); Onsite
- Perform quality control (QC) testing (as per pharmacopeial or in-house methods) and assess data against pre-determined specifications on raw materials, in-process samples, and final products utilizing gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS), inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS), liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS), high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), high-performance thin layer chromatography (HPTLC) analysis methods in addition to basic laboratory testing (i.e., weights, UV-Vis, FT- IR, etc.).
- Learn and perform preventative maintenance and calibration activities for laboratory and production equipment.
- Participate in validation or technical document activities.
- Follow and adhere to all given instructions including work procedures, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) and ISO 17025 and 9001 requirements.
**You have**:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Laboratory Science or Food Science Engineering (required)
- Experience in an ISO 17025 laboratory environment (min 1 year)
- Experience working with instruments such as GCMS and LCMS (min 1 year)
- Experience in growing cell cultures and experimenting with cells (min 1 year)
- Research experience in Natural Health Products (NHPs) development and characterization (required)
- Experience analyzing food contaminants such as pesticides and heavy metals (an asset)
- Experience analyzing microbiological contaminants (an asset)
- Worked in a GMP environment (an asset)
