**The Opportunity - Buyer**

Acting on the direction of the Purchaser Manager, this position is accountable for implementing and controlling the procurement of raw materials, containers, cartons, and related packaging supplies on time and at the best price. While achieving the above goals, the Buyer must maintain an uninterrupted flow of production and keep appropriate inventory level while achieving plant inventory and production efficiency goals.

**Primary Duties**:

- Plan and purchase raw material and packaging components for the manufacturing facility
- Expedite/de-expedite components based on inventory levels and production schedules
- Communicate any raw material shortages or changes in lead time with Production
- Interface with Production, Receiving, and Accounts Payable to resolve invoice/receiving discrepancies
- Ensure all PO’s and associated documentation are sent to Accounting for receipt/processing
- Update approved suppliers list for raw material suppliers, service subcontractors and freight carriers
- Support lab with sample requests and help source raw materials for new projects
- Obtain documents for setting up new vendors when required
- Work with QC to help resolve supplier quality issues

**Qualifications**:

- Bachelor’s degree or College Diploma in Administration
- Certification from Supply Chain Management Association is preferred
- 1-2 years’ experience in Buyers function
- Some working experience in pigment/chemical purchasing would be advantageous.
- Experience in international purchasing would be an asset

**Individual Characteristics**:

- Understanding of supply chain - logistics, purchasing, shipping/receiving, inventory management and purchasing practices and procedures.
- Ability to multi-task projects and assessing priorities when necessary
- Ability to organize and monitor status of open purchase orders and expected delivery dates
- Possesses excellent verbal and written communication & presentation skills
- Ability to work independently, plan, prioritize and complete work on schedule
- Must be a self starter, able to problem solve and work under tight deadlines

**Salary**: $60,000.00-$65,000.00 per year

**Experience**:
