Hespeler Animal Hospital is a full-service veterinary medical facility, located in Cambridge, Ontario. We’re conveniently located close to Hespeler, Galt and Preston, and a short drive from the east side of Kitchener.
We are searching for an organized and empathic veterinary receptionist with Veterinary industry experience to join our team. The veterinary receptionist's duties include scheduling appointments, issuing invoices, and receiving payments after consultations. You will also be required to inform the veterinarian on-call of any emergency cases that arise.
To be successful as a veterinary receptionist, you should ensure that our office remains presentable at all times. An outstanding veterinary receptionist will provide comfort to human and animal clients when in distress.
We are looking for someone to start as soon as possible for a permanent full-time position as Veterinary Assistant/Receptionist. Our current clinic hours are Monday, Wednesday, Thursday from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM, Tuesday, Friday 9:00am - 6:00 PM. on Saturdays from 9:00 am - 2:00 pm and the availability to work Saturdays is required for this opportunity.

- Has high school diploma or equivalent.
- Has previous administrative experience, preferably within a healthcare setting.
- Familiarity with Avimark is advantageous.
- Intermediate computer proficiency.
- Basic arithmetic skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Excellent organizational, time management, and multitasking abilities.
- Personable, empathic disposition.
- Capacity to work well during distressing situations.
- Ability to work shifts, on weekends as needed.
**The job description**:
- Assist veterinary staff with various tasks and treatments.
- Create a warm and welcoming environment for our patient and pet parents.
- Greets clients with sincerity, enters or updates client and pet information into the practice computer system.
- Create a positive, low-stress atmosphere for our clients and patients.
- General housekeeping duties; cleanliness of reception area, pet holding areas, and common areas.
- Compassion and nurturing attitude.
- Willingness to learn more regarding; pet nutrition, veterinary services, updated medical office procedures, and assisting the veterinary staff with various tasks and treatments.
- Ability to remain calm in stressful situations and adapt to changing situations.
- Take initiative and work independently.
- Excellent customer service skills; a real aptitude for putting pets and pet parents at ease and creating a welcoming environment.
- Ability to answer a multiline phone system and track and book appointments effectively.
- Placing outbound calls to pet parents for follow-up and future appointment bookings.
- Scheduling appointments.
- Admitting and discharging pet patients.
- Avimark experience is an asset.
- Flexible schedule, as weekend/late shifts will be required.
- Animal restraint.
- Informing the veterinarian on a call of any emergencies that require urgent attention.
- Issuing invoices for treatment and prescribed medication after each consultation.
- Receiving and verifying payments after each consultation.
- Monitoring the inventory of items for sale by the practice and restocking these, as needed.
- Overseeing the sale of items stocked by the practice.
- Liaising with courier services and laboratories to ensure that samples are delivered and collected on time.

**Salary**: $18.00-$19.00 per hour
Expected hours: No more than 40 per week
