General Labourer

Maxam Metal Products is established as a trusted and reliable name in the construction industry since 1970. During these years we have worked directly with Architects, Engineers, Construction Companies and end users to provide for their needs.

We are currently hiring a General Laborer to join our production team, which will include membership in the local union.

Hours - 1st shift Monday - Friday, 7:30am - 4:00pm

Starting Pay: CA$20.55/hr

POSITION PURPOSE:
This position is responsible for assisting our experienced production workers to perform tasks. The General Laborer position is responsible for a variety of duties including but not limited to prep work for operations, performing assembly operations, assisting Painters on the paint line, breaking out punched parts, packaging finished goods, etc. This position may operate a forklift as needed.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

- Assist Operators to ensure the highest quality of production is achieved.
- Perform assembly operations.
- Assist in loading and unloading of materials.
- Assist in packaging product.
- Maintain full working knowledge of all processes.
- Ensure a clean and organized work environment.
- Conduct himself/herself in a professional manner in accordance with company guidelines.
- Other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

- Effective communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Tenacity in overcoming obstacles while maintaining productive and positive working relationships.
- Ability to execute in a rapidly changing fast paced environment that requires strong teamwork.
- Understanding of all tools, gages, equipment, and other various instruments used to perform position.
- Basic ability to understand blueprints, schematics, and instrumentation diagrams.
- Skill in performing accurate arithmetic functions involving addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division; using decimals, percentages, fractions, and ratios.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
One plus year of experience in a relevant manufacturing setting.

The employee must regularly lift up to 60 pounds and move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

The employee may be required to work with hazardous materials. The employee may be exposed to hot surfaces, hot air, electrical hazards, and flames. While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works with moving machinery and occasionally in outside weather.
