**BASIC FUNCTION**: Reporting to the Maintenance Superintendent, the Night Shift Robotics Technician is responsible for, but not limited to, any type of equipment that needs to be programmed with special emphasis on robotics
**PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES**:
- Perform all tasks with safety in mind. Take responsibility as a competent person under Section 27 of the OSHA for the safety and wellbeing of employees on shift.
- Work closely with the Automation Team Leads to support production for both Business units.
- Adherence to the Procedures and Instructions. All designs and specifications are to meet or exceed current CSA or ANSI codes.
- Selecting, maintaining, ensuring required documentation is in place and up to date.
- General upkeep and updating of present equipment, including the monitoring of Spare Parts inventory.
- Assist the maintenance department in supporting production.
- Engineering and research - continuously looking for ways of improving machinery, systems and efficiencies.
- Continually work towards standardizing technical equipment.
- Lead or participate in various process improvement projects including responsibility for the creation and adherence to project timelines.
- Provide process information, automated equipment utilization and assist management team in schedule attainment.
- Install, program and repair six (6) axis robots and robot controllers, as well as auxiliary equipment.
- Perform preventative maintenance as required to maximize the reliability of the work cells.
- Build or assemble robotic devices, systems, or end of arm tooling.
- Maintain and repair electrical, electronic, and mechanical components, equipment, and systems to ensure that they function according to specifications and to optimize production.
- Analyse information and evaluate results to choose the best solution and troubleshoot any problem can may arise due to robotics/automation.
- Provide guidance and advice to management or other groups on technical, systems, or process related topics.
- Train maintenance and production employees on the automation equipment so that they can properly perform preventative maintenance and adjustments.
- Continuously improve operations, efficiencies, and production flow.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
**QUALIFICATIONS**:
- University degree or College diploma in Electrical Engineering (Robotics and Automation).
