Reporting to the General Manager, Export Operations, the **Superintendent** responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient daily operations of one of Coast 2000’s terminals. This leadership role is actively involved in optimizing labour cost, warehouse space and assets to effectively meet our customers service requirements. The position also ensures the timely and accurate processing of administration functions through direct supervision of the customer service team and warehouse supervisors. The Superintendent takes a lead role in investigating service failures, implementing corrective actions and driving the continuous improvement mandate.

Serving Canada’s Pacific Gateway for over 30 years, Coast is the industry leader in providing off-dock service to Ocean Container Carriers and Canadian Exporters with sites in Richmond and Prince Rupert, BC.

**A day in the life**:

- Ensures the safety of all persons on site including employees, customers, suppliers and other stakeholders
- Oversees which includes planning and implementing daily activity at our terminal - engages supervisors, foreman and customer service group to coordinate our customers receiving, staging and outbound logistics as well as labour requirements
- Leads daily tool box talks to deliver prudent information
- Works with management to draft and implement safety operating procedures
- Administers both confirming and corrective feedback - including escalated discipline to all parties on site
- Works with customers to forecast daily demands
- Assesses staff performance and conducts bi-annual performances of new and existing CSR and supervisory staff.
- Liaises regularly with customers to communicate and resolve issues to improve service and profitability
- Provides costing information for pricing new business - works directly Senior Management on business development, and mitigating margin erosion on existing business and delivering on the continuous improvement mandate.
- Monitors inbound railcar and truck deliveries while supervising inventory management systems to ensure inventories are correct and up to date.
- Performs frequent cycle tag counts as often as possible
- Liaises with Facilities Manager for building/yard issues

**You have**:

- 10 years’ experience working in a lumber warehouse or lumber reload facility
- 5 years experience in a supervisory role with an ability to take initiative
- Post-secondary education preferably in business, logistics, industrial engineering or forestry supported by ongoing courses in management, negotiations and leadership
- Strong customer service skills with an eye for process efficiency
- Strong understanding of containerized exports, container terminals and logistics
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Solid understanding of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
