**Job Overview**

This position is one of essential service. You are a master at food knowledge with an excellent grasp of culinary cuisines and styles. You have a great palate, know about wine, beer, and cocktails to the extreme detail. You are an ambassador of excellence in service and hospitality.

You have to be able to read a room. That is with the guests, as well as the team. Have a magical sense of intuition.

You ensure all guests are welcomed and receive excellent hospitality in the form of food and drink knowledge, a comfortable and warm environmental experience. It is not formal, but it gives casual a new level of class.

You must be able to upsell and showcase the restaurant. You are a confident decision-maker for your tables/section. You are proactive and intuitive.

Success in your job means that you’re willing to bet your job that the guest will deliver a 5 star review, will come back, and is sure to recommend.

You can run a section of 30 to 44 heads with support, and still maintain cool with grace and style.

We have systems in place that, when used properly, make any pro-server extremely efficient and happy. All the tables in your section are visible, and accessible.

- Doesn’t mind sweeping, mopping and doing dishes;

**Qualifications needed for the job**:

- Super strong food and bar knowledge;
- Experience working in restaurants with table service is ideal; but fast food, banquet rooms, cafés, catering, and event planning are also relevant;
- Strong, fast, and able to stand or walk briskly for hours at a time; able to lift at least 30lbs; have flexible and healthy forearms and dexterity in hands;
- Able to work long hours when needed and still being aware of your limits;
- Able to use a modern POS system, online ordering platforms, and basic computer;
- Intelligent, sharp, witty, and current but wise from the past.

**Hours**
- 30 hours per week; six days a week to start: Monday to Saturday.
- 4:30pm to 9pm, Monday to Wednesday & 4:30pm to 10pm Thursday to Saturday.
- At least one week off over Christmas.
- Certain other Statutory Holidays off (e.g., Canada Day, Good Friday).

**Pay**
- Server wage plus you keep your own tips (which typically works out to about $29 to $45 per hour)

**Salary**: From $15.50 per hour

Ability to commute/relocate:

- Ottawa, ON K2P 0A4: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)

**Experience**:

- serving: 4 years (preferred)
