**About Us**:
Atira Property Management Inc. (APMI) is a mid-size licensed property management company known for its inclusionary hiring practices and its commitment to community. APMI is wholly-owned by Atira Women’s Resource Society, an award-winning not-for-profit organization, and all profits earned by APMI are set aside to build affordable housing. We offer a challenging and rewarding work environment where a job is more than just a pay cheque and where staff have the opportunity to work alongside and be inspired by a remarkable group of committed activists and professionals working to make the world a more just place, one tenant, one home, one job at a time.

**About the job**:
Reporting to the Outreach Program Manager, the Outreach Tenant Support Worker is responsible for the day-to-day work of supporting residents with a wide array of emotional and practical supports. Activities include but are not limited to assessing the general well-being of residents and making referrals to service providers, helping develop safety plans, conducting regular safety checks, liaising with relevant community partners regarding residents’ various other needs, providing one-to-one support, accompaniments, and advocacy, actively helping residents keep their rooms clean and prepare for pest control, and preparing and delivering food.

**About you**:
You are flexible and open to taking on diverse tasks whenever needed. You are a quick thinker who is able to make decisions without agonizing and who knows when to reach out to others for guidance and support. You embrace the mission, vision, values and philosophy of Atira’s parent Society. You put residents first and work to include them in all of the decisions that affect their lives. You have a well-developed understanding of and commitment to anti-oppression work and intersectionality. You are familiar with colonialism and you understand the ongoing impact of the residential school system. You are committed to working with residents who may be struggling with substance use, brain trauma and cognitive impairment and or mental wellness. You understand and are comfortable working within a harm reduction environment and while you support tenants who choose abstinence, you understand abstinence is just one option for those struggling with substance use.

You have, at minimum, a diploma or certificate in a relevant discipline (e.g., community support worker, mental health and addictions worker or social services worker) with a minimum of one year of experience (depending on education) as a support worker working with people affected by trauma and who may also struggle with substance use and or mental wellness. The equivalent combination of relevant experience and applicable skill-based training may be considered. Lived expertise is an asset, as is living in the community in which you work. Atira strives to hire staff who reflect the people we serve.

**You Also Have**:

- Proven initiative, judgement, decision-making and problem-saving capabilities.
- Proven ability to develop and maintain rapport with tenants, your co-workers and other stake holders.
- Demonstrated ability to act in a crisis management environment.
- Proven willingness to roll up your sleeves and support tenants in the ways they ask/need.
- Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
- Familiar with DTES and the services provided to the community members.

**Additional Requisites/Assets**:
