Tecumseh Family Dental is currently hiring a Level II Dental Assistant to join our dedicated team of healthcare professionals. The Dental Assistant will work amongst our interdisciplinary team to provide the utmost patient experience. The dental assistant will assist with dental treatments, contribute to the development of dental treatment plans and help with office duties. Occasional Saturdays and evenings required.

- **Duties and Responsibilities**_
- Perform dental assistant duties such as preparing patients, instruments and assisting the dentist during dental procedures
- Record treatment information in patient records
- Take and record medical and dental histories for new patients and maintain medical records
- Provide instructions prescribed by the dentist
- Explain technical and medical information to patients
- Assist with the development of dental treatment plans
- Monitoring dental supplies and equipment inventory
- Operating X-ray and 3D scanning equipment to process radiographs for diagnostic purposes including but not limited to periapical radiographs, panoramic radiographs, buccal object rule and cone beam CT scans. Performs necessary calibration tests on equipment as required.
- Providing leadership in infection control policies and procedures. Responsible for the cleaning, disinfecting and sterilizing of instruments. Maintains infection control logs as well as daily processing of biological indicators.
- Demonstrates competency in dental lab work including the taking of impressions, pouring and trimming models.
- Maintaining appropriate inventory of dental supplies and fostering good relationships with dental supply companies.
- Effectively communicating patient treatment plans with the administrative staff
- **Knowledge, Skills and Abilities**_
- Outstanding interpersonal skills and the ability to make patients feel calm and comfortable
- Outstanding communication skills
- Outstanding organizational skills and attention to detail
- Self-starter with excellent problem solving and critical thinking skills
- Ability to learn new techniques in digital dentistry and to utilize new technology to enhance delivery of treatment
- In-depth knowledge of health and safety regulations of the profession
- Ability to work within a multi-disciplinary team
- **Qualifications and Experience **_
- Level 2 Dental Assistant Certification including HARP certification required
- 5+ years of experience working at general and/or specialty dental practice is an asset
- Knowledge of digital x-rays and intral-oral scanning is an asset
- Experience with Cleardent software is an asset
