**Respite Support Worker - After School (Bowmanville)**

**Job Description**:
Relieve-Me Home Support Services is seeking a compassionate, energetic **Support Worker** for a **permanent after-school position** supporting a 21-year-old client with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in Bowmanville.

The client is non-verbal but communicates effectively through writing. He is very cooperative, active, and enjoys basketball, parks, walks, and crafts.

You will accompany him to his scheduled weekly activities and other community outings using Uber (arranged according to company policy). You’ll also support light housekeeping and life skill development during each day.

**Current schedule includes after-school hours on Thursdays, and light housekeeping duties on Saturdays, with additional support hours becoming available starting in June and increasing further during the summer months when school is out.**

**Responsibilities**:

- Provide direct support and supervision after school (Thursdays 2-6 pm).
- Accompany the client to community activities and outings by Uber.
- Plan and engage in recreational and creative activities (basketball, crafts, walks).
- Support development of life and social skills (cooking, baking, tidying room).
- Perform light housekeeping tasks (tidying common areas and cleaning 2 bathrooms) This can also be used as teaching moments for the teen.
- Maintain clear communication with family and agency regarding activities and updates.

**Requirements**:

- Experience supporting individuals with ASD or other developmental disabilities.
- Ability to support non-verbal communication methods (writing/assistive tech).
- Patient, enthusiastic, and able to encourage participation.
- Valid Vulnerable Sector Check.
- Access to a smartphone for communication.
- CPR/First Aid certification.

Schedule:

- **Permanent position**: Saturdays, and Thursdays after school (4-5 hours each day).
- **Additional hours** available starting in June and expanding during summer break.
