Toronto, Ontario, Canada (Hybrid)

Directs a department of skilled Hardware Design resources focused on the infrastructure design of Hitachi GTS projects and their implementation. The Department is composed of several groups, the overall size being about 35 in Canada and around 25 abroad operating from the LCC(s) of India and the Countries of Destination (COD).

Key Accountabilities:
Site Infrastructure Design (SID):

- Lead and represent SID and provide deliverables, estimates and plans on time as per projects’ schedule.
- Align and coordinate directly with VP of Solution Deployment on upcoming opportunities and Go-Gets.
- Support proposal submission by:

- Defining SID design strategy for Brownfield or/and Greenfield opportunities and align with Capture Leads, Bids, Engineering, Projects, DPMs, and COD teams.
- Reviewing estimates from LCCs and CODs and identify optimizations to meet the target pricing.
- Consolidate overall estimates, risks, non-labor cost from LCCs and SID team to Bid team as formal submission for any given Bids.
- Define project schedule for SID design activities and align with Engineering, DPMs, PMs, and COD teams.
- Leads Design for Deployment discussions to minimize cost and optimized schedule duration.
- Participate in complex customer meetings to discuss SID design strategy.
- Engage with Deployment teams to reflect lessons learned on active projects to reduce rework and overruns.
- Provide regular updates to VP of Solution Deployment on the progress of design and deliverables on active projects.
- Review department LFR quarterly with VP of Solution Deployment and implement the action plan as required.
- Participate in monthly Deployment Dashboard reviews and provide feedback on SID and BIM topics.
- Actively monitor department demand and ensure personnel with right skillset are assigned to deliver the project commitments on time.
- Ensure department performance initiatives are accomplished.

Building Information Modeling (BIM):

- Ensure library of all product and project specific racks are created and maintained for project integration.
- Develop competency on detailed BIM integration under Hitachi GTS for NORAM projects.
- Develop Hitachi GTS standards on BIM.
- Responsible for on-time delivery of all Hitachi Rail GTS equipment models, and Clash tests for all BIM projects.

Key Requirements:

- Bachelor’s degree of Engineering
- 15+ years of Urban Rail Industry experience.
- 5+ years in management position having managed and coordinated international teams.
- University degree in engineering or equivalent.
- Change management skills and experience.
- Strong written and oral communication skills in English.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Excellent Customer service experience
- Bachelor’s degree of Engineering

Preferred Qualifications:

- P. Eng. License would be an asset
