- Essential Functions- Develop strong relationships with key clinicians (KOLs, nursing and allied health personnel) in targeted accounts.
- Provide a high level of service and product support for all clinicians around the utility of Mallinckrodt Pharmaceuticals products including the provision of technical back up support to hospitals and timely responses to inquiries.
- Serve as a key scientific/clinical resource to key external stakeholders including managing the provision of scientific and medical information.
- Development and implementation of tailored advanced training programs in relevant hospital departments including site qualification, developing and maintaining slide content, follow up and evaluation of the program effectiveness.
- Qualify as a master trainer for all delivery systems by demonstrating in-depth knowledge of device theory and operation.
- Demonstrate the ability to teach advanced topics related to disease state and product (drug and device) awareness.
- Provide in-service training on Mallinckrodt’s critical care products.
- Provide information through formal presentations to clinicians and allied health customers that detail the clinical data and latest research/trends of Mallinckrodt Pharmaceuticals products.
- Identify and foster investigative efforts with KOLs and Key Tertiary Centers.
- Identify appropriate projects that align with the corporate strategy.
- Act in an advisory capacity for training and technical issues.
- Support clinical research trial site initiations by providing technical support throughout the study period. Acting as a liaison between the potential investigators and the Medical Affairs Department.
- Maintain a high level of expertise on scientific and therapeutic advances in the relevant therapeutic area (both Mallinckrodt Pharmaceuticals and competing therapies).
- Attend local, national and international conferences as identified and agreed upon with the Medical Director.
- Function as a resource to the leadership team regarding market dynamics, business development opportunities and customer feedback.
- Identify and communicate field issues, opportunities and competitor activities
- Plan, co-ordinate and participate, as required, in an on-call roster to provide cover of the customers by both the clinical specialists and the critical care business managers on a rotational basis.
- Drive internal collaboration, coaching and best practice sharing.
- Work collaboratively with commercial colleagues to provide training, mentoring, coaching and reinforcing their therapeutic area knowledge and experience.
- Provide regular feedback to cross-functional team by way of in-field intelligence.
- Assist in the development of educational materials and training support documents and assumes responsibility for a specific therapeutic focus or technical expertise in order to become the expert internal resource.
- Attend and participate in sales meetings, conduct training both in-house and in-field, participate in conferences, medical and professional meetings nationally and locally, and other business activities.
- Minimum Requirements- Education / Experience / Skills:
- Academic qualifications in Medical/Life Sciences: MD, PhD, MSc, PharmD or RN
- Healthcare and/or work related experience
- Clinical experience in therapeutic area highly desirable
- Relevant experience as Medical Science Liaison, Medical Advisor, Clinical Specialist or Clinical Research Coordinator
- Ability to absorb and communicate complex technical and scientific information and understand its impact on the quality use of medicines to positively affect patient care.
- Demonstrable project management capabilities
- Effective stakeholder engagement and strong relationship building skills with medical leaders including decision-makers
- Excellent oral and written communication skills required
- Proficiency in English and French language required
- Demonstrated cross-functional working style & leadership.
- Experience in working within a matrix organization
- Thorough knowledge of medicine, treatment guidelines, clinical research processes (including GCP), and assigned country-specific promotional guidelines, regulations, and ethical guidelines is required.
