The Student Wellness and Equitable Learning (SWEL) department leverages a collaborative, socio-ecological model for student development and care. The cross-functional team includes Student Connection and Community Care (Office of Student Community Standards, Student Support and Intervention Coordinators), Residence Life and Education, Testing Services, and Student Wellbeing (Accessible Learning and Counselling Services, Wellness Education and Programs, and the Health Centre). The SWEL team offer pan-College services across all Humber College/University of Guelph-Humber campuses.

**What you will do**:
Reporting to the Associate Director, Accessible Learning and Counselling Services (ALCS), the incumbent assists students with disabilities with the aim of increasing their academic success. They develop and deliver appropriate customized programs of learning/educational strategies, based on thorough assessments, to give students with disabilities the awareness and tools they need to take charge of their learning to enhance their potential for academic success. The incumbent teaches specific skills and delivers training in such areas as organization, analytical thinking, comprehension, general study self-advocacy and coping skills, and works with students to incorporate learning styles that are suitable to their unique needs, within their chosen program of study. The incumbent is also responsible for facilitating the verification, acquisition, education, training and availability of assistive technology and adaptive equipment and devices for students with disabilities. They research, test, install and maintain software and assistive computer technologies to be used in providing students with recommendations, options, transferable technical skills and resources to promote the use of assistive and adaptive technologies for use in educational environments. As a member of Accessible Learning Services, the incumbent provides advice and makes recommendations to staff and faculty with regards to assistive technologies.
**What you bring to the role**:
**Education**
- 4 year degree or equivalent in Education, Psychology or other related field.
- Learning Strategist Graduate Certificate (LSLD), Learning Disabilities - Applications (LDAP), Applied Learning Disability Studies (LDGC), Learning Disabilities Theory and Best Practices (LDTH), or Assistive Technology Professional Certification.
**Experience**
- At least 3 years’ experience working with post-secondary students or adults with learning and other disabilities/disorders to develop appropriate study skills strategies (preferably in an educational setting), including at least 1 year of directly-related experience working with persons with disabilities specifically in a post-secondary educational setting. Experience instructing students (preferable).
- Current, directly-related experience working with persons with disabilities in a post-secondary educational setting.
- Working with computer hardware or software to include at least 1 year practical experience in the area of adaptive technology.
- Working knowledge of the Ontario Human Rights Code, the AODA and other relevant legislation in the post-secondary context
- Demonstrated experience working with students who have a disability, including, but not limited to Autism Spectrum Disorder, Acquired Brain Injury, Learning Disabilities, Mental Health Disabilities, Mobility/Functional Disabilities, Psychiatric Disabilities, Physical and Sensory Disabilities
- Excellent judgment, analytical, reasoning, and problem-solving skills to assess documentation, evaluate student needs, recommend and develop individualized learning plans and evaluate service delivery
