Day Custodian

**Responsibilities**
- Opening the school at 6am (dis-arming the school alarm, unlocking doors for student arrival)
- Perform routine cleaning tasks including sweeping, mopping, dusting and vacuuming of various areas within the school
- Maintain cleanliness of cafeteria and common areas to ensure hygiene standards are met.
- Empty trash receptacles and dispose of waste properly (around the outdoor perimeter and indoor)
- Assist with basic facilities maintenance tasks as needed, ensuring all equipment is functioning correctly.
- Responsible for receiving deliveries.
- Report any maintenance issues or safety hazards to the appropriate personnel promptly via school database as work-orders.
- Follow established cleaning procedures and safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment.
- Collaborate with contractors and team members to ensure all tasks are completed efficiently and effectively.
- End of day is at 3pm when evening custodial staff arrives

**Experience**
- Previous experience in cleaning or custodial services is preferred but not required.
- Familiarity with facilities maintenance practices is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain high cleanliness standards.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.

**Requirements**:

- Police Check with Vulnerable sector is mandatory before start date.
- WHMIS certificate is a plus (can be done online before or first week).
- Ability to lift min 15 lbs.
- Knowledge of operating a floor auto-scrubber is a plus but not required (training on site).
- Fluent in English.
- Basic knowledge of computers.
- Reliable transportation as start time is 6am on the dot.
- T-shirt/uniform will be provided and mandatory every day.

Starting pay : $17.50 for first 3 months
