Job Summary:
Walden international School is looking for an experienced _**Custodian**_ to work the hours of _**7am-3/3:30pm Monday - Friday**_ with the understanding that additional hours may be necessary should the School need snow removal or have projects that need to be completed around the building.

**Start date: As soon as possible.**

**Job Description**:
CLEANING
- Cleans, dusts, vacuums, mops, washes, scrubs, seals, waxes, spray buffs, disinfects, brushes, sweeps, all surfaces such as floors, walls, furniture, ceilings, fixtures, windows, glass partitions, and equipment as required during the day to maintain the cleanliness of the school
- Replenishes paper supplies and hand soap in washrooms and classrooms and remove any excess garbage during the day
- Maintains entire school to an acceptable level of cleanliness.
- Keeps all receptacles in a clean and sanitary condition.
- Cleans and disinfects sanitary fixtures, including toilets, urinals, sinks, showers, water fountains, etc.

GENERAL
- Performs duties in compliance with district policies and safety regulations.
- Complete minor repairs around the school such as replacing lights, paint touch-ups, put up bulletin boards, move desks and chairs
- Coordinate with outside trades such as plumbers and electricians when they need to come in to complete repairs.
- Coordinate with external service providers such as HVAC, landscaping, snow removal and cleaning.
- Maintains a cooperative working relationship with staff, students and the public.
- Performs other assigned duties related to the duties above.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION

Grade 12 certificate or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

KNOWLEDGE
- The standards, practices, materials and tools used for the maintenance and repair of buildings, grounds or equipment in a school setting.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Balance attention to detail and time available to complete assigned tasks
- Maintain a cooperative working relationship with other workers, administrators, supervisors, teaching staff, students, parents, outside service providers, and the public.
- Adapt to changing circumstances, plans and schedules to meet unforeseen circumstances.
- Understand and carry out written and oral instructions.

OCCUPATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Sufficient sight and hearing to perform related job duties.
- Able to stand or walk for extended periods.
- Able to lift and carry supplies (up to 23 kg/50 lb).
- Able to climb and work from 3 metre ladders.
- Able to work in a highly active physical environment.
- Able to clean up bodily fluids as per standard procedure.
