**About the Role**

As a **Field Safety Specialist**, you will be responsible for **ensuring compliance with OH&S/OSHA regulations, WorkSafeBC standards, and company safety policies**. You will take a leading role in **safety programs, conducting site inspections, training employees, and fostering a culture of safety**.

**What You’ll Do**:
**Safety Leadership & Compliance**
- Serve as Houston Landscapes' **safety ambassador**, promoting a culture of accountability and best practices.
- Ensure full compliance with **WorkSafeBC, OH&S, and OSHA regulations**.
- Act as the primary contact for **safety audits, inspections, and compliance matters**.
- Leads Houston Landscapes' **Joint Health & Safety Committee**

**Site Inspections & Risk Management**
- Conduct **regular job site safety inspections and audits** to identify hazards.
- Work with project teams to **eliminate risks through proactive safety measures**.
- Follow up on **corrective actions** to ensure compliance and workplace safety.

**Training & Onboarding**
- Provide **safety orientation and training** for new hires and existing employees.
- Train teams on **SALUS safety software** for proper documentation and reporting.
- Lead **toolbox talks, refresher training, and emergency response drills**.

**Incident Management & Reporting**
- Investigate workplace **incidents, near-misses, and injuries**, conducting root cause analysis.
- Prepare and submit **detailed incident reports** with corrective action recommendations.
- Ensure proper **record-keeping of safety reports and documentation**.

**Emergency Preparedness & Subcontractor Safety Compliance**
- Maintain **emergency response plans** and ensure employees are trained on evacuation procedures.
- Ensure **first aid kits, eyewash stations, and safety equipment** meet regulatory requirements.
- Verify that **subcontractors comply with Houston Landscapes’ safety policies** before starting work.

**Safety Program Development & Continuous Improvement**
- Assist in **enhancing and implementing safety policies, procedures, and best practices**.
- Track and analyze **safety performance metrics** to identify improvement areas.
- Ensures** COR Certification** and other industry safety standards.

**What You Bring**
- Minimum **2+ years of experience** in **health and safety within landscaping, construction, or a related industry**.
- Strong knowledge of **SALUS safety software**.
- Certified Safety Officer (**CSO, NCSO, NHSA**) or equivalent certification **required**.
- Understanding of **OH&S/OSHA Acts, WorkSafeBC regulations, and industry standards**.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to **work independently and collaboratively** in a fast-paced environment.
- Valid **driver’s license** and ability to travel to job sites as required.

**What We Offer**

**Salary**: $65,000 - $85,000 per year (based on experience).
