**Location: Hamilton Downtown Family YMCA, **79 James Street South, Hamilton, Ontario L8P 2Z1
**Position Type**:Full time with benefits and a complimentary YMCA membership
**Salary Range**:$35,000.00- $45,000.00 annually
**Position Description**:
Reporting to the General Manager, the Aquatics Supervisor is responsible for member satisfaction in the Aquatic Program area through the development, evaluation, and promotion of aquatic programs. To support a workforce pipeline, this role will include coordination of all advanced aquatics courses for the Association. Additional responsibilities include instructional, lifeguard, a Team Leader duty.
**In this position, you will**:
- Responsible for the development, scheduling and delivery of Aquatics programs and member engagement activities
- Recruitment, training, and mentoring of all staff and volunteer team members for the purpose of delivering excellence in customer service through Aquatics programs and services
- Provide direct leadership in programs modeling/ mentoring service excellence
- Will be required to teach Aquafit and Hydrotherapy as needed
- Ensuring compliance of all pool regulations including testing, balancing, cleaning, and documentation at outlined in Public Health Regulation 565. Regular usage of pool chemicals and cleaning supplies for water and deck equipment maintenance
- Extended periods of work time will be spent standing, sitting or a combination thereof; as well, strong focused mental attention to surroundings is required
- Needs to be able to manage varying amounts of weight to assist lifeguards/members/program participants in the pool in case of an emergency and to lift /use chemicals
- Coordination of all Advanced Aquatics Course for the Association. In collaboration with the Association Aquatics Program Group, this role will prepare contracts, annual plans and schedules to support a pipeline of lifeguards to meet Workforce requirements. This role will ensure the YMCA is seen as an Employer of Choice for new lifeguards and support an effective transition to YMCA locations for employment opportunities. This role will also help to drive revenue in courses.
- Work with Facility Manager to ensure compliance related to all aquatics centre requirements above and below deck.
- Will need to travel to other HFA sites to support and coordinate Advanced Aquatics Training and workforce recruitment
- Strong relationships with the Aquatics Program Group and external partners i.e. Lifesaving Society in executing Advanced Aquatics Courses to meet Association needs and scheduling.
- Responsible for scheduling and organizing instructional programs for staff at the Hamilton Downtown YMCA;
- Responsible for the supervision of program leaders in the Aquatics department to ensure all Public Health pool logs and safety protocols are maintained
- Manage all pool rentals to ensure steady revenue stream to support program revenue
**You bring**:
- YMCA Aquatic Trainer certification is preferred
- Current CPR and First Aid
- NLS, YMCA/LSS Instructor’s Certification
- AEC certification
- Aquafit Instructor certification is an asset
- NL Examiners considered an asset
- Excellent communication skills and high attention to details
- 2 years supervisory experience
- Must provide a current Criminal Record Check as per the Association’s policy
