**About the Job** Reporting to the Manager of Economic Development, the Business Advisor oversees the operations of the Cornwall SDG Business Enterprise Centre, providing advice to small business owners that are looking to establish or grow as small business. **Duties and Responsibilities** - Create innovative and creative approaches to coaching, training and mentoring clients and partners in the delivery of services to entrepreneurs and the effective management of the Cornwall SDG Business Enterprise Centre (BEC). - Implement Ministry programs (Starter Company Plus and Summer Company) within the region by facilitating training, making presentations and organizing events and workshops for various educational organizations, businesses and individuals. - Market the programs and services of BEC including preparation of marketing material. - Maintain and update BEC website and social media accounts. - Research and prepare media releases, newspaper articles, speeches, presentations and e-newsletters as required and field requests and queries from local media. - Assist in the development and management of the BEC budget(s) and additional sponsorship/grant dollars. - Manage the daily operations of BEC and provide supervision of BEC staff. - Promote community economic development, build and maintain partnerships with area municipalities and organizations to deliver a variety of service/programs to businesses, municipalities and communities in our region. - Develop and maintain systems to track entrepreneurship activity in the region. - Support the Economic Development team by undertaking special projects and duties as assigned. **Qualifications** - A minimum of five (5) years of experience in a progressive business or government environment. - Post-secondary degree in business, marketing or related field. - Must possess a valid Ontario Class "G" Driver's License and have access to a vehicle for use. - Good understanding the local business community in Cornwall, SDG and Akwesasne. - Ability to work independently, take initiative, coordinating multiple projects. - Highly motivated, results-focused and detail-oriented. - Strong knowledge of marketing and finance, with experience in business plan development and social media marketing. - Superior communication, planning and organizational skills, along with a high comfort level coordinating and delivering seminars/presentations. - Must have excellent conceptual, interpersonal, presentation, time management, facilitation, project management, and negotiation skills. - Verbal communication skills in both English and French will be considered an asset. - Experience with the challenges of owning and running a small business will be considered an asset. Please note: This position involves occasional work on weekends and evenings as well as some physical requirements (such as lifting boxes) and work in outdoor elements.
