The Commercial Door Technician Apprentice is responsible for performing preventative and corrective maintenance, routine and on-demand services on commercial doors for multiple facilities.

**KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Conducts regular inspection and preventative maintenance on commercial overhead doors and related hardware
- Provides observations on conditions and deficiencies and suggestions for enhancements and repair
- Responds to routine and on-demand service requests
- Troubleshoots and resolves commercial overhead door and related hardware issues
- Repairs, replaces and installs door hardware components
- Records resolution data applicable logs/service maintenance management database. Ensures work completed meets quality and contract response, and all other requirements
- Receives, tracks, monitors and reports status of maintenance work within applicable logs/service maintenance management database. Initiates documents to obtain formal approval of work required

**Work Requirements**
- Must be able to work shifts, be on-call and be available to respond to emergencies
- Must be willing to wear personal protective equipment

**EDUCATION, JOB-RELATED YEARS OF EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS**

**MINIMUM EDUCATION**:High school education

**JOB-RELATED EXPERIENCE**:More than three years up to five years

**Knowledge & Skills**
- 3 to 5 years of commercial overhead door maintenance and repair work experience
- High school diploma plus trades training and certification, an asset
- Ability to adhere and to properly execute to processes and practices
- Ability to maintain and repair mechanical and electrical systems relating to doors and door hardware components
- Strong troubleshooting and resolution skills in order to resolve commercial door issues
- Possesses a strong environmental, health and safety mindset. Ability to perform work in a safe manner
- Strong client-service orientation with a high sense of urgency
- Effective communication skills for the purpose of data relay, exchange, feedback, and clarification
